My dad wants to buy a Dell XPS M2010 computer but it's still advertised as having an ATI Mobility X1800 graphics card, even though it now comes with Vista. I was under the impression that the X1800 didn't support DirectX 10, as it's been out for a while. However I've just phoned Dell support to ask if they'll be supplying that computer with a DX10 card anytime soon and he insisted that the X1800 will make full use of DX10. Can anyone confirm or refute this?

When I was passed back to Sales, the guy suggested my dad gets a price from the website then, instead of ordering it there, he phones him for "a good discount". Is this normal with Dell?

3rd paragraph states DX9

For DX-10 this is the baseline that I can find, and it is CERTAINLY NOT mobile (yet)

Thanks.

I did find a few links mentioning DX9 but the more recent ones I found didn't specify either version. I guess he'll just have to wait till they offer a card/chipset that definitely uses DX10.  Sad

 yes

Expect about 4-6 months before anything like that will even be CLOSE to reasonable.. Maybe by Christmas next year.. IF you are VERY lucky.
