Somebody started a thread about the Media being the source of American Ignorance. For some reason that thread is gone and I suspect the thread starter's opening post had something to do with it. Oh well.

That being said... What group or groups do you think interfere the most with America becoming a better society and a better player on the world stage?

United Nations

What?! The US is one of the five most powerful nations in the UN, and that's just based on the contents of article 23 of the UN Charter! Explain how exactly the UN is holding back the US? And don't give me the crap about not condoning a global war, since keeping the peace is exactly what the US envisioned when it set up the UN.

Or are you one of those special people who believes that the IRS and the UN are trying to take over the world?  wink

Cheers
Mats

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

Not when the SC votes are for sale. The UN is a very corruptorganization, that needs to be cleaned up from within, before attempting to solve the world's problems.

The ACLU

Sometimes they have a point, otherwise, their voice is worthless, if not regressive.

NAACP

At times the group is warranted, but most of the time I see silly lawsuits and really odd activism

and the ACLU

They have double standards. For example, they support reform against Illegal Immigration, but they also have support for prosecuting the border guards that shot at people. It just doesn't make sense.

The ACLU is a tricky devil... their purpose is to protect the rights and freedoms in the Constitution, but they get so wrapped up in their "let's involve ourselves because we can" attitude that their message gets lost. I can see both sides of that one.

Tabloid 'journalism' has its place as entertainment. It's only when people turn to it for real news that it becomes a problem. (Fox News intentionally deleted - open for interpretation)

Hmm, I disagree.

There is a fair majority of the government that runs pretty smoothly, but I think the biggest culprit can surely be Congress. It seems that they are more worried about personal gain and their own political parties, that REAL issues get put to the back burner and eventually forgot about.

The executive branch is the one that runs like someone threw a bunch of nuts and bolts into the gears of the machinery.

The ACLU only protects the liberties of minorities. The liberties of white males are forgot about.

The UN is a joke.

Every time the US proposes and idea, that will in end help out the US along with other countries, its turned down.

Why must we be responsible for supporting other countries?

Like Prisoner's Rights? You are correct, but I don't agree with the ACLU...for example, prisoners are in jail for punishment, not as a "government sponsored hotel," which is pretty much what the ACLU wants.

I can't wait to see the ACLU defend the Westboro Baptist Church, since they are a "minority" too.

25 Queso : Because they encourage people to oppose certain pieces of the US Constitution.
26 Post contains images KaiGywer : Fine I suppose I just know they are in black neighborhoods around the country urging the residents to carry camcorders at all time to videotape any c
