If you had not one or two, but three things to change about your country what would it be?

1) Politicians
2) Coporate Executives
3) Justice system (seems to benefit the gangsters more than the average citizen)

If I take this to mean Romania:

-improve transportation+tourism (the two go together in my mind)
-eliminate corruption (like that's gonna happen)
-improve police+judicial system (that also means get rid of stupid laws)

USA:
-improve education... (and I mean mostly culture by that)
-forbid illegal immigrants to work for any company
-make English the official language federally

However, I'd have no idea of How I'd do these things.

Eliminate private funding for political campaigns

Take a good, hard look at the Electoral College and it's system of 'leveling the playing field,' which defeats the majority rule.

Improve the law system. It's pathetic what you get for serious crimes these days.

Politics... Have a PM that doesn't lie.

Make cannabis legal. If it's for personal use, then i really don't see the harm. The Dutch do perfectly fine.

Mainly its borders.

We need more beaches, preferably to the south of us (better weather) and also some decent mountains because
let's be honest there is also something called winter holiday and in Belgium we don't have any decent ski area's.
Luckily France is our southern neighbour and since they are well..... French they will not put up much of a fight so these changes seem achievable.

Also:

-Lower taxes (I think we are in the top 3 worldwide now ).
-No speed limits on the 3 lanes or more highways like they have in Germany.
-Also a decent public transport system (ala Japan) with a wide use of a high speed Transrapid like system (acceleration/decelaration higher than common type rails).
-So many other things....

Correct for the UK as well, our justice system certainly needs an overhaul.

Get rid of all the "lords" as we don't need them.

The human rights law that "we" signed up to, needs binning, it helps more criminals than good people, pathetic.

Here is what I would change in Australia.

-Immigration policies
-Abolish most of the states' powers
-Leave Iraq
-Give pay rises to the entire Defence Force
-Sign the Kyoto (?) agreement
-Put a tax on non-hybrid cars
-Start some nuclear power plants
-Put a 200% tax on all coal exports
-Subsidies getting a pilots license
-Make all new drivers attend classes on how to control a car
-Increase speed limits on Freeways and Motorways to 130km/h where possible
-Change welfare allowances for able bodied persons
-Increase the amount of Police
-Give much harsher sentences for crimes ie: Life for Rape and Murder instead of rehab

I'll get back to you when I think of some more.

As for what I'd change in Norway: I'd spend a bit more of our billions earned through petrolium, to improve schools/education, hospitals, welfare, remove poverty, and ensure the elderly get better conditions in "old folks homes."

I'll start of on some easy changes ....

1) Traffic laws! Update them instead of keeping them at par with their pre 1960 origins. And educate the people about them! Also, make it harder and more expensive to get a driver's licence, stop with this ridiculous mommy and daddy teaching junior all their bad habits behind the wheel. Ban cell phones behind the wheel. Make it mandatory that all vehicles must go through a safety inspection every two years in order to renew your insurance. Car don't pass, car don't move!

2) Advertising laws! All fees, surcharges, taxes (including PST and GST), extra this and extra that must be included in the advertised price! Stop this ridiculous practice of advertising for $699 but you have add this and that and by the time you walk out the door, your receipt says $1099!

3) Ban mail in rebates! If a manufacturer wants to give you $50 dollars back for buying their product, that is something between the manufacturer and retailer. Why should I have to pay full price, cut off the UPC code, send in the receipt and wait 4-6 weeks to see if I ever get my promised cheque or not. Here's a thought, it's called an instant rebate! Look into it!

4) All city planners/engineers and traffic planners/engineers must have spent at least 3 years working in another country before they can be hired by the city/province as a city/traffic planner/engineer. This way, we are insured that other ideas will and do work in other countries around the world.

wouldnt go THAT far...
New cars should get an exemption of say 6 years...

Also, specify that they must be from a country with actual traffic laws... last thing we need is doing away with all traffic lights "cause it works in Hyderabad"

Now other things:

Fix speed limits... most of our highways were engineered for higher speeds. Set the limits at 120 at least!

Cut the red tape for building anything. Environmental assesments four times over... give me a break...

Cut BUREAUCRACY... the levels of people redoing things in government is frightening.

Ban "jobs for life" for ANYONE

Release all previous crown corps from government acts.

enh... enough for now

Two years in my opinion, it doesn't matter if the car is new or not. If an owner can not maintain it in a safe way, it shouldn't be on the road.

Doesn't necissairly have to do anything with traffic safety, just basic road and walkway design. For example, they just built up a new retail subdivision here, all the stores are on one side, but no sidewalk. On the other side, you have a sidewalk but nothing else. So if you want to get from one store to another safely, you have to cross a busy street with no crosswalk to get there. Make's no sense what so ever.
