How To Get A Notarised Copy In The UK?

I am trying to get some valuable documents [Value 1400GBP] notarised in the UK. Obviously I am looking for a solution which will cost me the least amount.

Can anyone suggest something? In various countries you can do this by going to the local police station though I am unsure whether this is a possibility in the UK.
