Hey all you html whizzes out there -- how do I post a non-airliners.net photo in a post on this forum? I know how to link to airliners.net photos in the database, but how do I post a photo directly onto a post (not an internet link). I tried doing a search on the topic but came up with nothing. Thanks everyone, and happy holidays.

Wow, great pic there, Starship. Is that a coral atoll somewhere in the Pacific???

Hey, it worked! The first time I tried it it didn't work b/c I forgot the space between img and src.
This is the beautiful coral atoll of Aitutaki, in the Cook Islands.

Yeah right, Clovis. The guy doesn't know what to do and you've gone and left out the inverted commas in your instruction!
Okay, Avilitigator, I see you've figured it out, but for anyone else still in the dark as to what to do, here are my standard instructions, that I normally send out.
You cannot place pictures at airliners.net directly from your harddrive. If you have any pictures on your harddrive, you have to upload them to a website first, of which there are a number available. Do not use Geocities or other such websites which do not allow you to link to photos from another source in an album held there.
If you want to place pictures from the internet in your posts, this is the procedure:
Find any picture on the internet, like this one below
A90.125 Orlyonok
Right click on the picture - a menu will appear - go down to 'properties' at the bottom and left click on 'properties'. Another window opens up with all the picture's details and in the middle you will find the picture's URL (Uniform Resource Locator) address, which will look like this:
Make a note of this address (you will need it later) or if you are ready to use it, move the mouse onto it and either highlight the whole address with the mouse or right click on the address and left click on 'select all'. Then right click - a menu will open - select 'copy' and close the properties menu, then minimise or close that browser and go and right click on the white draft page in the forum where you want to place the picture. A little menu opens up and left click on 'paste'. The picture's URL (Uniform Resource Locator) address will then appear on the page.
Please note that in order to explain further, I need to insert spaces between these < > brackets and what is between them. When you actually give the HTML instruction, there are NO spaces except for one single solitary space between img and src
Move your cursor to the front of the address and type < img src=" and at the end of the address type " > so that it ends up looking like this:
If you then hit the post button the picture will appear on the blue draft page. If you are happy with the picture and the text you can post it to the forum, or you can hit the edit button and redo whatever you need to. If only a white little block appears with a red cross instead of the picture, something is wrong. Go back and check if you have a space between img and src, check that your inverted commas are in place and that your pictures URL is correct. Please note that the pictures must end with 'jpg' or 'gif'. Just about all of them do, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Maps are usually a problem, but it is seldom that one will need to put a map in the forum.
Happy picture posting.
PS: The first picture I posted is of Hulule International Airport, your gateway to the Maldives.
