The best part was the bunch of sens untying Hurme's glove to beat the crap out of Potvin. That has to smash the Senators single game penatly mark. I didn't think they had it in them.

That was one of the best things I've ever seen in hockey. I live in L.A., and was watching the game on Fox Sports Net.
Ray ended up behind Potvin in the crease while play was being carried out. Ray give Potvin a little nudge, Potvin swipes him with his leg and Ray hits the ice. Ray gets up, and punches Potvin in the neck. Next thing Ray sees is Potvin's blocker in his face and stars, and then the ice. Then total chaos broke loose.
Soon everybody was in it, and Mair jumped off the bench (which got him a 10 game suspension) and clobbered an Ottawa player and a referee in the process. Next thing I saw was Hurme coming out of his net to even up the teams , and soon Potvin and Hurme are going at it.
The best part of course was when Hurme couldn't get his glove off, so he skates over to the bench locked up with Potvin, and three Senator players untie it and he is free to pound Potvin. Eventually, the ref's come up to them, say a few words, probably "One more punch and you guys are getting suspensions." The fight between the two stopped in a heartbeat, and the two goalies stood on the ice panting for breath and rubbing their fists.
Meanwhile, scraps and fights were going on all over the ice, and gloves, helmets, and sticks were literally covering the ice. I know it might not be politically correct, but I've never had so much fun watching a hockey game. It took nearly half an hour to sort things out, and I think the game had a total of 287 penalty minutes. After all the ejections, both teams had 16 players left in the game. LOL, good stuff.

Hurme is lucky that Potvin was tangled up or else he would be dead meat. You should have seen how he demolished Ron Hextall in a fight about four years back. The only better scrapping goalie is Dan Cloutier.

I think I remember seeing that fight between Potvin and Hextall. Look who's still in the league (seriously, Hextall was getting older and he was bound to retire in the next few years regardless).
I wish I could have seen it on TV but didn't. I heard that Adam Mair received a 10 game suspension. Also Hurme and Potvin both got ejected along with several others. And to think it was a 4-2 game also!
The funny thing is that the Kings and the Sens only meet once or twice a year. There really isn't a rivalry between them. If this happened, I would have thought it would have been LA and San Jose/Anaheim. Ottawa with Toronto or Montreal.
Does anyone know how late that game ended?
