What happened to Shannon's user profile?

You know, the lady from AMA who was always bemoaning AMA's lack of any meaningful air service...

She's taking a break from the site.

She has made it known that at some point, she will be back.

I respect that if people want to take a break from a.net and come back in the future. But what I don't understand is why they delete their profiles if they intend on coming back? Couldn't they just not come on? That's always confused me  Confused

What i dont get is why they need a break. I mean Its the internet, if people take it seriously what people say then they got some issues, because in the reality of life, you dont know if im really a 15 year old kid, or a 45 year old bloke in australia. I understand if its family issues but do you see were im coming from here?

I suspect it has to do with temptation...if you decide to take an LoA from a.net and keep your SN, I think it'd be much more tempting to just suddenly one day pop back in and get back into the a.net swing of things even when you weren't really intending or planning on coming back just yet...

Delete the username, and ba-bam, that temptation is gone and the person can now fully control whenever he or she wants to come back...

Totally agree! I was wondering why there is no function that allows you to block your own account for a certain amount of time.. then you wouldn't have to delete your account, but I guess that'd mean less money for the owner of this website  duck

I spoke to her not half an hour ago..

She's having a 4 month break then will be returning to the site. I hope she stays intouch until she comes back as she's part of the furniture, especially in the chat!

I thought she was more like a nice marble floor in there. Furniture can be moved (as is evident by this thread) but I thought she was more permanent. I can't wait for her to come back.

Exactly. There is always the idea that you could easily just come on if you are bored or something. Whereas if you account isn't active you might think again.

I think taking a break every now and then is a good thing. Not so much a problem as said earlier, it just becomes more part of your routine and to keep things interesting we should change our routine often.

I didn't really like her, anyway. However, there will always be a place in my boxers for her and Phyllis.
