The "How you like your steak" thread got me thinking. What is the perfect meal? Mine is:

Grey Goose Martini
Caesar Salad
Prime Fillet Mignon (medium-rare to medium)
Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet
Garlic Mash Potatoes

and finish off with:

NY style cheesecake
Vintage Port

Scratch the martini, change the Fillet Mignon to medium well, and have someone else cook, then I'm there.

Hmmm... one with friends enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere would be the best.

As for the food, here's what I'd suggest:

beef carpaccio

crayfish soup, preferably with more solid than fluid  Silly

aubergine in beer batter, garnished with mozzarella, Parmesan and basil from that Italian place in my hometown - absolutely delicious, to be served warm

Saltimbocca alla Romana, with a good helping of sage

Tomme de Savoie, Gruyère and ordinary Brie, the latter served with grapes

Panna Cotta with properly glazed apples, I'll have to risk another attempt at those some time in the future!

Wine to accompany each of these, which I'd let my father choose as he would know better.

Walk together, talk together all ye peoples of the earth. Then, and only then, shall ye have peace.

Green tea
Miso soup
Mochi with red bean sauce

Simple, but oh so delicious.

Quoting AirCop (Reply 1):
change the Fillet Mignon to medium well,

I could never eat a steak that was more than medium rare.

Did you ever read on your birth certificate that life is fair? Thats cause its not there.
