The Associated Press imposed a week-long ban on Paris Hilton coverage.

Unfortunately, they ceased.

News outlets shouldn't ignore celebrities like Paris Hilton because or who they are, but because they're not news. Ignore people like this, and they go away.

Can we ignore her too?

No great loss, then again, look at the media uproar over Anna Nicole Smith.

The irony is that I stopped reading the article after three or four paragraphs... guess that's all I need to say.

Paris Hilton isn't newsworthy. Who gives a rat's ass about her and her goings-on? Her only claim to fame is her birth to a hotel mogul. That is it.

When she does something to help further the human race, other than breath or show up at a club, the press should be alerted. Till then, let her spiral downward to her own demise.

But more importantly, has RTE stoped covering Ms. Hilton?

Not even, nobody knew about her until she got famous for that grainy video of her sucking somebody off.

It's sad that the media idolizes (media?) whores rather than focus on real issues.

You are right, but the fact she was born into wealth makes her prone to gold-digging followers (and the tabloids (which can lead to respectable news outlets (CNN, AP, FOX)) are part of that media).
