A couple of weeks back I finally got a chance to visit the Delta Heritage Museum on the HQ campus on the north side of Hartsfield. Usually I'm running late to catch my flight so I never had time to stop by. Luckily I had to pick up a co-worker from the airport so I left a little bit early and dropped by. Here are some pictures of the tons of interesting things they have stuffed away in their hangar. Sorry for the quality on some of the pics but the lighting in the hangar isn't great and my wife won't let me leave the house with the Canon EOS camera.
A few years back there was a display in the T Concourse of ATL that had tons of stuff from the history of Delta. I'm not sure where they are hiding that stuff but it would be cool if they brought it out and put it on display in the museum. If you get a chance I highly recommend you call ahead and get a pass phoned in for you and stop on by the museum as it was a neat thing to visit and see the history of a great airline.

Thats pretty cool. How much are those seats going for? I love the DL HG, its very nice. Can I ask where you live in ATL? North of Downtown? Or South? Or East? Cant really think of many places west of ATL.
I really love that city though, Im up there all the time, and spotting DL at ATL brings back good memories.

I think it was around $200 for the pair. It was a bit too much for me to get a set and bring them home and then beg for forgiveness from the old lady when I had no immediate plans for them.
I live in Marietta NW of town up in Cobb County. Easy access to I-285 to get down to Hartsfield to catch my flights since I hardly ever have a client in town.

Damn.... I always found that through town was quicker than 285. At least in rush hour.
Northwest is pretty posh man.....anywhere close to Buckhead?

Very nice. I was at Delta the day the museum opened. It was quite an occasion! I have part of the original sheet metal of Ship 41 hanging in my office too. There have been a lot of additions to the museum since the last time I was there - the Spirit of Delta being the biggest one!
Does Ship 41 still go out for flights? On opening day they had a contest for a ride in it...unfortunately, I did not win.

Very good TR. I do like the 767 seat. $200 a pair is a really good deal.

depends on the traffic that day....usually 285 is quicker than the connector.
Yes...I lucked into a flight two years ago. It's incredibly well maintained and a great flight. We took off from Charlie Brown Airport and flew up the river almost to Lake Lanier.
BTW...the L-1011 fuselage was used in the making of the movie "Passenger 57"....for what that's worth.
It's run by a great lady who will take and ship on phone orders. She can also usually find cool memorabilia.

The Museum is located on the Delta campus. You have to be able to get on the property to get to the museum. We got turned away.

Yes, when I can afford a ticket, I will fly down to ATL and check it out!

Great sig, by the way! I'd prefer not to hear the Cylons saying, "Concourse A" "Concourse A"

Next time call ahead if you are there during their open hours. Unfortunately the rent-a-cops who work the front gate seem a bit too lazy to take the initiative to call them for you. I called about an hour before I showed up at the gate and had no trouble other than waiting for the slowpoke guard to check the list.

Thanks for the tip. They were unwilling to call for us the last time I tried. When I've been in there it was as the guest of a DL employee.
