Hello everyone (especially Germans),
Last Saturday I have been to a Jan Delay concert and I have to say that it was fantastic. The guy is a great entertainer and his band "Disko No. 1" (Delay: "Ja, wir sind die derbste Band der Welt") made very cool music, they had everything on stage, from transverse flute over great background singers to the fantastic Jost Nickel on the drums. They played every song of the new album "Mercedes Dance" but also classics from older albums like "B-Seite" and "Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann". The show lasted a bit over two hours and Delay did almost everything in this time, he sung, he played games with the audience and at some point he even played the drums by himself. I will definitely go to see him again when his next tour starts.
Anyone else a fan of Delay's music? Anyone else saw him and his band live on stage?
Not really a fan, but I like his sound .... - would go to a concert , if he is around.
He was at Beckman some time ago ... - He has a pretty radical view on Germany, like he thinks germans are the most unstylish people in whole Europe ....

It's definitely worth to go to a concert when you like his music. We were there with 10 guys and everyone of us was glad that we saw him live on stage. Delay also gave two or three concerts in Switzerland but unfortunately his tour is over now, I heard however that there will be another one in the summer. What I really liked is that he chose rather small locations to play in, there were only 1500 people on the concert which was great IMO.

Damn, I didn't see it. I will search the ARD website later to look if there is a podcast.

I know, his song "Kartoffeln" make this very clear. He is pretty famous for "gesellschaftskritische" (<- WTF is that in English?) songs and I really like that, it is not only some blah, blah but really great texts combined with really cool music.
Quoting Jush (Reply 2): Hate him. He's trying to hard to be cool.
He is not trying to be cool, he is cool. But you have to admit that he has a huge knowledge when it comes to music, no matter if Reagge, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, or Jazz, he can simply play every style.

Sorry, for mixing that up. He was actually at Johannes B. Kerner shithead show ...

Totally agree there with you ... - allways nice if those guys choose small locations.

DJ Mad was there as well on Saturday. He made very good sound for an hour before the concert begun, I wish I would have a recording of his gig. He also opened the concert together with Delay, Delay came on stage and said something like: "My band is afraid to leave the tour bus because they are Werder fans, it's not good to be a Werder fan among so many VfL Bochum fans today", then he performed the intro with DJ Mad but then felt a curtain and Disko No. 1 was there. Quite funny IMO, I really liked that he played the "Werder won vs. Bochum today" game a few times during the concert.

I can imagine that. Best songs on Saturday were "Feuer" and "B-Seite", the whole hall was dancing.

Some of his tunes are okay, despite him having an annoying voice. All in all gibt's schlechteres
