'Tis that happy time of year again when all our brothers and sisters around the world reach out across the commonwealth and pat each others on the back for being part of this briliantly useful institution that does so much to enrich our daily lives.
Hooray for the Commonwealth of Nations! That glorious voluntary organisation of nations that (some, kinda) possibly had some kind of connection to the British Empire before it crashed and burned in slow motion over the course of the 20th century.

I'm going to echo QFF's statement. The commonwealth is outdated, powerless, pointless and in fact totally useless. Ditch it now, it's a waste of time and resources to its members.

Ditch it, along with the monarchy as head of state.

Quoting YooYoo (Reply 10): I see there are links for Australia, New Zealand and the UK Republican movements.
Yes, there is a residual agreement that facilitates cooperation and the sharing of resources across the various republican movements around the Commonwealth Realms. A good thing if you ask me.
That said, we mustn't confuse the Monarchy with the Commonwealth - they are two different entities. The Queen's position as the head of the commonwealth is a title granted to her as an individual. It will not automatically pass to Prince Charles when the Queen dies.
