Ron Paul (R-Texes)
Is running for the Republican Presidential nomination.
In 1988, he was the Libertarian Presidential candidate but only won 0.5% of the vote against Dukakis & Bush.

In 1996, he challenged turncoat Greg Lauglin in the GOP house primaries. Greg Laughlin was a Democrat that switched parties after the 1994 Republican victory in Congress. Ron Paul challenged him in the primaries two years and won.

- A staunch critic of the Iraq war, Paul derided government wasteful spending in that war-torn country during the half-hour television program.

- He supports medicinal marijuana and has argued for a repeal of America's drug war laws.

Gee Ian, you can't seem to move past that and have serious debate. Everything goes back to Cuba or Venezuela. Also I never heard you condemn our governments favorite dictators such as Pinochet.
I am suprised you aren't a fan of Ron Paul. He is very conservative and probably agrees with you on more things than I.

2) for the Pledge Protection Act
3) controls on immigration
4) no welfare, etc for illegal aliens
5) supports elimination of estate, capital gains, and inheritance taxes
6) opposes marriage penalties
7) supports increasing child tax credits
8) supports a phase of the death tax
9) blasted the feds and FEMA after Katrina
10) anti-abortion.....

.....hell yes I'd vote for him!!!

I've heard of this guy. He seems most trustworthy of any republican I've heard yet (at least in politics). As hard as it is for some of you to believe, I do have friends that are republicans.

When a vote in the house is 434-1, you know who the 1 is. He's the only person I'd vote for in 2008.

I think that he and Fred Thompson are the best so far. Ron Paul would get my vote first, as he seems to be his own man...refreshing in a candidate nowadays.

I think it's because even most Republicans have lost site of their values...or, like many Republicans I know, they know only the "famous" people. You're right though, it really is a shame. We miss people like this and elect people like Bush. I wish we still elected people like Regan and Truman. :9

I agree, minus Reagan. I liked Gerald Ford over Reagan. Smile

We shall see what happens in the primaries. A lot can happen over the next year. Ron Paul ignite some fire in to the campaign.
