She is so incredibly talented and has a voice like no one else. I think some of her best work was when she was with The Sugarcubes, but I've never heard any of her work with Tappi Tikarrass or KUKL.

I read somewhere she cited another of my favorite performers, Kate Bush, as an influence but I don't remember where I saw that.

What is it with Texas and Bjork? My squeeze down in Austin is a HUGE Bjork fan. I thought her Athens Olympics performance was nice, but I haven't seen much else that really turns me on (except said squeeze, of course).

And Westy, explain "squeeze" for an old straight geezer with a gap in his learning.

Squeeze is a non-committed occasional lay, where there'd probably be something stronger if we lived closer together.  Wink

That's for sure. I remember some great Spitting Image sketches on "101 Uses of a Bjork". Telephone fax machine, R2D2 stand-in...... Big grin

Certainly! I got my hands on a copy of "Immature" eons ago, ever since I've liked her music. Of course, as with every artist, there's some better and some so-so stuff, but in general she's contributed much to my liking of Icelandic music.

Even though I didn't comment on her appearance in my opening post, I will say that she has a very natural look and for me that in itself adds to her attractiveness.

Her music is really unique and she is apparently involved in acting too.

You've got to give her credit for not being shy!

Couldn't agree more, can't stand this woman, I have 3 songs by her in my laptop and when I'll see them next time they'll be deleted for sure.

Yah, different tastes, but IMO she has no voice.

After a PM from CastleIsland, I did some reading and found at least one place I had seen that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kate_Bush

"Bush has been noted as an influence and inspiration by artists as diverse as Tori Amos (who has covered "Running up that Hill" and "And Dream Of Sheep" in live performances), Antony and the Johnsons, Lily Allen, Fiona Apple, Pat Benatar, Cristina Donà, (who covered "Wuthering Heights), Björk (who, in 2005 wrote an article for fashion magazine I.D. about Bush as an influence)"

Heh heh heh....you might just be surprised. Then again, after what we discussed that night on the drive to WalMart in BHM, maybe you wouldn't!

I always thought that some kind of collaborative effort between Björk and Morrissey would have produced some unbelieveable results, but I think Morrissey's ego would have gotten in the way of their true potential. Can you imagine the cutting-edge upbeat force of Björk's material mixed with the darker but grippingly realistic lyrics and musical tone that Morrissey always seemed to deliver? Wow.

Well, it's like this- I wanted to make sure I got it right so I looked it up and copied and pasted the name. I just wanted to do justice to her work AND her name.

As an aside, I totally love Iceland since we went on holiday there three years ago. That holiday is still top of my list of great holidays.

The way Icelandic names work is just so cute, but I have read that it can cause issues when travelling to the US because a family of four (father, mother, son and daughter) will all have different "surnames". crazy

25 Queso : See, here's what I am talking about. Is it just me or does anybody else see some incredible potential after watching these two clips: Björk - "Human
26 Helvknight : Don't agree with you at all. maybe not conventional beauty, whatever the hell that is, but quite an interesting face.
27 Queso : I take that back now. I just found a project with Morrissey and another of my favorites (hold on to your hat N1120A) Siouxsie (...and the Banshees).
28 Dougloid : If you were my kid I'd tell you to clean your dick before you bring it in the house. Preferrably with steel wool and Clorox.
