Time To Start Bashing The Red Sox

With Opening Day just around the corner, I can feel the bile rising in my throat as my thoughts turn to the classless, boorish team in that run-down hovel on Landsdowne Street.

After an off-season spent shamelessly copying the Yankees (you tour China? We'll tour China), spending obscene amounts of money in another futile attempt to buy a championship, and making weak excuses for the behavior of their paranoid schizophrenic left fielder, the Sox are about to take the field in the third season of their current 86-year failure streak.

So here's to the most irritating team in baseball! It'll be great when the pinstripes turn your teeny-tiny little bandbox into Yankee stadium East.

The difference is, we actually get talent, not some mediocre right fielder with a longer injury history than Evel Kenievel and less pop than my breakfast cereal. We're so stacked, our third baseman has the best season of any in the league and we still get on him for having a shit year!

And as far as choking, there's a reason the Heimlich maneuver was invented in Beantown. Over almost all of the last century, the Schlox have made an art form out of tracheal blockage at critical times. Like last August, when the yanks came into your yard with the brooms, painted your stadium white and navy blue, and sucked the soul out of your playoff run. Hey chowds, here we go again!

So Curt Schilling and Keith Foulke magically appeared on your doorstep before the 2004 season, then?  Yeah sure

Let's dispense with this "buying rings" BS. For some reason, it's only bad when the Yankees do it. Heck, the Marlins sold their entire team after 1997, and they still don't get nearly the crap that the Yankees get. When the Yankees win, everyone says that it's proof that its all about the money. And when they lose, everyone says that it's proof that it's not all about the money. So which one is it? Does money matter, or doesn't it?

At least Yankee fans are honest about money's contribution to their team.

Way to go A-Rod... that will build respect....and as far as bandwagon fans, I've been a Red Sox fan since the early 1970's..... and I remember every bad moment since then and will never forget the greatest comeback in baseball sports history.

Man, all I see with that statement is A-Rod, Pavano, Damon, and Abreu. Not like you guys paid 5 bucks for all of them.

making weak excuses for the behavior of their paranoid schizophrenic left fielder,

Excuses? I'm wouldn't have been surprised if the Yankees got him instead of us. And it's not like you guys haven't had any problems. Look at whats happening to A-Rod. He's probably gunna leave after the season anyway.

A part of me thinks that it's not the teams who are irritating, but the fans who irritate others.

Quoting LHMARK (Reply 2):

It's not talent if the team can't meld together to win a ring.

And there are some other players you guys have picked up, Pavano, Jaret Wright, Kevin Brown for example, who you guys bought and got pretty much nothing with.

So if you're team has such a good eye for talent, where's Randy Johnson then?

Did your guys forget to tie him down to the team bus roof or something, leaving him lying on the NJ Turnpike or what?

Next question; How's that farm system doing anyways? Any good talent there?

Unfortunetly, and I kill myself as I say this, they do have better talent in their farm system. There's a couple pretty good pitchers that will come out of there, all this coming from the biased YES network.

Hopefully you are asking about the Yankee's farm system.

George spends TONS of money on talant. The thing is, the Red Sox front office, players and fans all bitched and moaned about the Evil Empire and how much money they spend. Ironically though, the Red Sox payroll is about 20 million away from the Yankees. And that doesn't include the 51 plus million spent just to negotiate with Dice-K. Wait until the Sox trade for a closer and pick up Todd Helton and that payroll soars past the Yankees. Here is your new Mascot Chowd Honk. Evil Empire my ass...
