I actually checked it not long ago. Turned out I was only just classified as overweight. Hope to lose a few kilos during the year to get me on "the right side".

Let's not forget that muscle tissue weighs a great deal more per cubic inch than fat does, and the BMI doesn't take one's body fat percentage into account.

Just for comparison purposes I entered what I weighed in high school at my current height and received a score of "average", even though I was slat-thin almost to the point of looking emaciated then. Ironically, all the height/weight charts at that time listed me as grossly underweight and suggested that I should weigh within ten pounds of what I weigh now.

This isn't golf, high score winds right?

Seriously thought, I don't put much stock in these charts, every person's body is different and a one-sized fits all chart just won't tell you much.

Those charts are used because they are easy to use.

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand.

I hate that chart in my DRs office. Its Bull. If I was 180, it would be 25.1 and according to that
I would still be fat which is bull. I am currently 5-11 and 200 lbs which is equal to 27.8.

I hit 24.4 but these BMI things are not that helpful. I have a buddy who is short and stocky, strong a an ox. Because muscle is heavier than fat, according to crude BMI such as this one he is overweight.

Their scale for the use of terms of "overweight" and "obese" seems awfully low. In order for me to be in the "normal" range, I'd have to weigh 165 pounds. Most guys my age that weigh 165 pounds look like this.

There's a quick and easy way to tell if you are overweight to the point where you face health risks. It works for men, not so much for women. Stand up straight and look down. If you cannot see your toes, your health is in serious danger.

This sounds like a joke, but it isn't.
