Hey guys, well today at school during lunch break, I was playing basketball with friends, and I was driving the ball in for the basket, and I turned and I went one way, and my knee went the other. The next thing I know, I was on the ground, and in incredible pain, and I look at my kneecap, and my bone is completely to the side, wowwww, did it hurt! So here I am laying on the gym floor, in pain lol. and They pick me up and put me on a wheelchair and elevate my leg, and on the way there, my knee somehow just pops right back into the socket. It was quite weird! And then I went to the hospital and they just checked for torn ligaments, turns out I just damaged some, and now Im at home with a big cast thing around my leg.

Out of a pain level of 1-10 this hurt like 11!  rotfl  By far the worst pain I've ever encountered.

Anyone else got stories of their dislocations?

That's a dislocated kneecap. THIS is a dislocated knee.

I had the SAME exact thing 2 years ago. Precisely like you described it. The area around my knee was swollen like hell though too. It took 4 months total to heal. However I have to say... now that you have damaged it once, it will be like that for a long while to come. A month ago, I was chasing a friend and out of no where the same thing happened on a smaller level. It swelled and I couldn't walk for two days.

The lower half of my kneecap was destroyed by a hockey puck. So yes, I kind of know what you're talking about. The months of that damned brace and the year of physical therapy. Joy oh joy. Arthritis up the arse everytime the weather does something quirky. Luckily all the ligaments escaped most of the damage, but the cartilage is deteriorating. I'll most likely need surgery on it again within 10 years....  Sad

My arm got ripped out of its socket in a rugby game, broke all the tendons etc., it hurt a lot. The doctor at the time, told me I'd be back playing rugby within 3 weeks. Idiot!!

I once dislocated my ankle just by walking around in the garden ... that was very painful. I popped it back in myself while screaming/sitting on the ground ... not fun at all (although the others looking at me were laughing, I'll keep it in mind for when they'll dislocate something themselves). Anyway, I went to the ER the following day because it was really hurting too much, and only got an aircast. And a puzzled look from a brand new MD who had never heard of a dislocated ankle (??).

Yeah, I dislocated my patella also. Hurt like a mother. My dad is a doctor, and he popped it right back into place. That hurt quite badly as well. Kind of funny. He said, "I'll pop it in on three. One.." pop. He surprised me. These injuries are not much fun, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

I dislocated my elbow several years ago by laying on it in bed, and then trying to roll over. I woke up in immense pain to find my arm at the most ridiculous angle, pulled it back around with my other arm which made it hurt even more, and then went back to sleep. Was still sore in the morning though and for days after.

I hyperextended my knee a few weeks ago, with slight dislocation of the kneecap as the patellar tendon was stretched. It swelled to twice the normal size and I was told to wear an immobilizer for a few days (during which I cheated several times because I was able to bear full weight) until I had full extension back. Pain was worst five days after the injury, but the pain and swelling resolved quickly and I didn't require any followup physical therapy. Lucky me.

THIS is a dislocated knee.

A college football player had that happen a few years ago and lost his leg below the knee because of damage to the popliteal vessels.

I've cared for more people with OPEN ankle dislocations than closed ones. Having Skydive Twin Cities is the reason.

Sorry, Dylan...But I cannot wish you well on your recovery, because you pray to a Diety...And that sort of thing offends me such, that I'll have to make calls against you the next time I officiate one of your city league games...

Oh, wait...  duck   Smile

Seriously, though...That sucks to hear about that, bud...I hope you recover in time for the mini PDX meet on the 7th. I'd have to have to push you all over PDX..  Wink Heal up fast, though!
