Actually the raw numbers came out a couple of weeks ago, but the Bureau released their report on the numbers today.
Top ten MSA’s now look like this:
1.New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, NY-NJ-PA
2.Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana, CA
4.Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX
6.Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown, TX
7.Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Miami Beach, FL
9.Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, GA
Atlanta metro area gained 890,000 residents from April 1, 2000, to July 1, 2006, the largest numerical gain of the nation’s 361 metro areas.
Dallas-Fort Worth had the second largest numeric increase at 842,000, and totaled about 6 million people. Houston (with an increase of 825,000), Phoenix (787,000) and Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, Calif. (771,000) rounded out the top five metro area gainers over the time period.
