A month I didn't think this was possible, but Michigan State by defeating Maine 4-2 will skate in the NCAA Championship Game on Saturday. If MSU does win it will be Coach Rick Comley 2nd title, last winning in 1991 while coaching at Northern Michigan in one of the greatest games in NCAA history an 8-7 3ot game v. Boston University. Next up is North Dakota vs. Boston College.

A message to Boston College: Stop taking dives, stop playing like pussies, if you have to force power plays to compete, you shouldn't be here.

What was up with the first game being so early today? I went straight to the Y after work to work out and it was down to the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period! I need to check the time on the Championship game Saturday and make sure they don't play it at 8:30 a.m. or such.

With a real goal in between!

The last five minutes were about as wild as it gets. Good to see an Eastern team make the final even if it is Hockey Least.

I don't think I have ever seen a finish like that, a weird last couple of minutes.

Michigan State v. Boston College; on paper its no contest Boston College had a much superior season and has the best goaltender; but they still have to prove it, meanwhile : GO SPARTANS!!

The reason they play the first game early is the fact that they restructured it a couple of years ago. It used to be one semi-final would be played on Thursday, and the other on Friday with the Championship on Saturday. The complaints about that format game because the team on Thursday would get an extra day of rest. So they changed it to have one game on a 4 and the other about 8 so you could still have TV Coverage.

The Frozen Four NCAA Championship will air at 7:00 pm Saturday 4/7/07 on ESPN.

And based on history the NCAA Hockey Championship is much more exciting that the Basketball Championship Game. This year game was another dud, and the hockey went into sudden death OT 4 times in the past 10 years, and only 2 games in the same period has been decided by three goals or more. Basketball zero OT's and only 3 games in 10 years decided by 5 points or less.

Just to be clear for those of us in overfly country(including where the game will be played) that's Eastern Time.

I'll be sitting at Philps Arena watching a meaningless game between Atlanta and Tampa Bay (Meaningless because the Thrashers won the division last night and it looks like T.B. can't move up in the standings either).

Have to pull for Michigan State since we've got an MSU alum on the Thrashers. Makes me glad Tkachuk went to B.U. instead of B.C. I was pulling for UND because three of their players are Thrashers draft picks, plus they have a local kid playing for them as well.

Want another reason to root for Michigan State your GM, Don Waddell played for the Michigan State coach Rick Comley at Northern Michigan, when the program started back in the 1976-77 season.

GO STATE. It was a tight game until the end, but with a couple clutch goals and great goaltending by Jeff Lerg.

You should have been in the Ralph when they announced the starting lineups. A bunch of guys from Minnesota, Canada, North Dakota, and then whenever the one guy from Georgia came up, everybody turned their heads and you could hear ten thousand people saying "what the?" at the same time.

And since my dad is a MSU alumni, he's really rubbing the salt in the wounds. Good job guys for becoming the Buffalo Bills of NCAA hockey.

Well I believe it all is coming to an end. Oh well, I guess we are gonna pretend.

Great 3rd period by MSU...exciting finish as well...congrats Spartans!

Thumbs down to the classless BC player who smashed his stick against the goal and cracked it in two after MSU scored the empty-netter...I know you're angry, buddy, but save your anger release for the locker room...

Excellent! The last score I saw was 1-0 B.C. (I caught that score while going back to my seat during the Thrashers game).

I've lost count how many times this season I've seen NHL goalies smash their sticks in that way.

Goalies are under a lot of stress...if they give up a goal and bang their stick against the crossbar (which I have seen as well), its no big deal...additionally, I usually don't see goalies breaking their sticks when doing so...

This guy, since you didnt see it, was not a goalie, he was a BC player (not sure if he was a forward or a defenseman) pursuing the MSU player and the puck on the empty net goal, and once the goal was scored, the BC player skated past the left-side of the net, and as he passed it, took a hard swing with his stick like it was a baseball bat, hitting the goal bar and shattering the stick...

Two different situations is what Im getting at here...

My guess is had there been more time and MSU didn't rush the ice with the 1.2 seconds left there would have been a penalty for un-sportsman like conduct. But since MSU rushed early I guess it was offsetting.

Go STATE!

Nope. They flew into Lansing. There was a reporter from a local TV station that met them there.

Thanks for the information

Last night game is another example why the Frozen Four is 100% better than the Basketball Final Four. What an ending. Congrats to Michigan State and Rick Comley.
