Yeah, I'm finally getting around to replacing that watch that was stolen in August on a vacation in SoCal and have been looking around at the various local jewelers for something I like.
Something that caught my eye this morning-- the Chase-Durer Wing Commander XV Chronograph (picture below) and thought it was kinda cool and has "that look" that I like.
At any rate, I really like watches with steel/titanium bands & gold link thingys (sorry, the term escapes me) and dark faces and am looking in the $150-400 range.
Soooo... if anyone has comments on the Wing Commander or Chase-Durer watches, I'd really appreciate hearing them because I might just go to the mall this weekend and buy it.

Wal-Mart should still sell Timex INDIGLO's. I spent $10 bucks on mine about five years ago and it is still going strong.
Replacement value isn't high either.

OH I figured that you where going for looks not practicality...
It is kind of like these guys that go off and buy 3500-4000 dollar Weatherby rifles with those fancy crotchwood stocks and then take them off to Moose or Bear camp!
A rifle like that you just leave in the case and lovingly rub it once a week with a diaper.

I myself prefer Seiko, or Citizen. Both very nice, and can be had for around $150-250.

I'm going for both here, -188.

Nawww, not really. Its only a, what, $200 watch. Now if I was talking a $18000 Rolex you might have a point there. Which reminds me, I wonder if I'll get a fake Rolex from my friend who is returning from China in a couple days... hmm

go timex! i've had several timexi and they are great, durable and not bad looking.
Citizen Eco-drives are great! i have one with a chronometer, 2 time zones (home and 1 other, mine's set to London time), an alarm and a perpetual calendar.

I have a Fossil Blue. Ok, so it's only $50, but it's gorgeous. Analogue set to local EST, digital set to London / GMT. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I have a slightly higher priced Fossil, it was $160 and it is very nice.

No...A better comparison would be those guys who go out and buy those $20,000 Italian double shotguns for trap shooting....
They make those Weatherby guys look sane.
At least they general don't go into the field with them.

LOL, L-188, oook, I gotcha. I think.
Hmm... don't really care for the Guccis a whole lot, but some of those Bvlgaris are just beautiful. Eh, I don't want to spend over $400. lol.
Thanks guys, seems you all sure like the Fossils, so I'll take a look. I still loooooooooove that Chase-Durer. And still looking for anyone that might have an experience with em....

Agreed, go for the cheapest good watch you can find for $40-50. It will eventually either get lost or broken, only a matter of time. I got a nice watch as a present two years ago and broke the strap less than two days later when I slipped and fell on some ice...a replacement strap cost almost as much as the entire watch.

I got the standard Rolex 3/4 face when I made partner last year.
But my $60 Fossil gets much more compliments (and I don't worry about losing it or scratching the crystal...).

Personally, I don't like metal bands and gold as second color. Here's my fav - Tag Heuer Carrera Chronorgaph
I think it is both - classic and modern.
Donations are welcome.

Well thank you all for your opinions... sounds like Fossil is something to look into. I'm going to go downtown this weekend to check out the Chase-Furer, but I'll keep the Fossil in mind in case I turn out to dislike the C-F.

Well, I liked this watch myself a lot when I was out looking through the local jewelers a few months ago.
The Bulova 96c11. Titanium. Very nice and light, but it is probably too minimalist for your style, looking at your first picture you posted. But take a look at this guy. I ended up getting mine for $240.

I do like that Bulova, Boeingnut. I tend to like simpler watches (like the one you posted), but that Chase-Durer (why'd I put "furer" last time? lol) just struck me as cool. I don't know.
I'm such an indecisive person, watch shopping is the worst. I've been doing it since August... lol.
