I think I was just screwing around on my computer one evening and came across it. I spent a few weeks looking at the pictures before I joined the forums.

All credit to my brother, An-225, who got me into aviation and told me about this site. At first, I was always in the Non-Aviation forum and then about 2 months later got all in the Civil-Aviation forum.
I love this site!
Long live AIRLINERS.NET!

I came across a.net on the internet... I don't really know how, just some link got me here. It took me half a year to join discussions though and another five months to start posting actively. Now, I don't regret it

I did a project about Boeing and McDD for my mergers and aquisitions course. For historical stock quotes I needed the ticker symbol of McDD, which you can`t find anywhere in the net, because the company does not "exist" anymore. Searched for an aviation forum, posted it in Airliners.net, 1 1/2 minutes later I got the answer I searched for hours before. Since then I read in the forum everytime I am online and knowledge about aviation has grown a lot since then!

It was in 1999, looking for aircraft photos at different places. The first impression, I mean the front page, isn't that appealing (and still looks the same!) but I was impressed when using the a.net search engine were you can find nearly everything you want. I also liked the high quality of the Editor's Choice photos.
Some month later I got my scanner and started uploading photos and now have over 1700 in the database!

I was actually on another forum in another site (can't remember which one) and someone mentioned a.net there. I had a look, and found this to be so superior that I never used that other one again!
Definitely the greatest website I found since I started using the internet about 6 yrs ago!!
