My dad has bought a new car for us to have Europe. Whenever one of us is going to be on vacation we will have finally access to roomy and capable car. The reason is to tow boats/bikes and go on ski vacations to Switzerland and just drive around Warsaw and Poland.

The lucky candidate is a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 with a 4.7L V8 Magnum (Unfortunately no HEMI Sad but maybe thats a good thing considering I will have to pay at the pump when Im going to be using it) The good thing is that it has a hitch, sunroof and a pretty low mileage of 12,500.

Car is being shipped out in the next 1-2 months and should be arriving in Gdynia/Gdansk, Poland several weeks later.

Check out them license plates (my old plates)  bigthumbsup   bigthumbsup

Some photos:

Finally I can takeon the craptastic pot-hole filled unplowed roads of Polska during winter

Yeah....you can have it shipped there, but why not just buy one when you get there? I mean....when I was visiting South Africa for a few weeks, I bought a brand new Range Rover to safari around in. After my holiday was over, I didn't know what to do with it, so I handed the keys over to a disadvantaged African.

Obviously you have never bought a car in Europe...or looked at the prices.

I handed over the keys to a Hennessey Viper once to a poor Cambodian...so we are even my friend.

/sarcasm off.

Errr, its not a far drive as far as im concerned via Germany.

Next week Im driving 1900km (and I drive that 3-4x per year)

In the summer time in city centre Warsaw you see a couple American/Canadian plated cars per day. 99% of them from IL, NY and Ontario. However there is a 2000 Cadillac Escalade from Sarasota, Florida with Florida plates that lives 1 block down from me. ;-D

Are there any yearly environmental taxes you have to pay on vehicles in Poland such as in Germany? Also, what kind of modifications (if any) do you need to do to get it street legal in Poland.

OK, in this case 1400 km isn't a far drive for you  Smile for me, it would be quite stressful: I avoid everything further away than 500 km by car.

By the way, nice car!

No environmental tax as far as Im concerned because the vehicle will be kept on US plates for the first year, no modifications are necessary AFAIK. My friend and I drove a Grand Prix GTP in Poland 2 summers ago and we didnt pay anything on a 3.8L V6 Supercharged. I see American cars (Including Japanese ones from USA) all the time in the summertime in Warsaw and I can safely say they arent modified.

Its not far, I can do 1800km in one day from Florida to Illinois and vice versa

Nice vehicle.

Now that all of the cars are gone out of Germany and France one must diversify his business and go into shipping via container from the USA.  Silly

We tried it, did'nt like it.

Besides, in a country as big as the US, or Canada for that matter, does it really make sense to measure things with SMALLER units?
