After an exciting and eventful first round in the East, we are still waiting for the West to get sorted out. For the time being, we know that the Eastern matchups will be:

Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Rangers

New Jersey Devils vs. Ottawa Senators

Look's like we've got the battle of New York, which should be good for TV ratings in the States, and then we've got the excitement and outstanding quality of hockey provided by the trap of the New Jersey Devils against the the red-hot Senators.

My picks?

Buffalo (These guys are no Atlanta Thrashers...sorry Srbmod)
Ottawa (Brodeur hasn't been the best the entire playoffs, and Ottawa isn't the one-line team that the Lightning were. And they've also got a hot goalie.)

Oh, and might I remind you, I'm 6 for 6 right now  Wink. Too bad I'm not a betting man. Wink

Quoting Iamcanadian (Thread starter):
Buffalo (Obvious choice)

 checkmark

Quoting Iamcanadian (Thread starter):
New Jersey (Once again, pretty obvious considering the goaltending situation)

 checkmark

Quoting Iamcanadian (Thread starter):
New York Rangers (Atlanta doesn't have the defense to hold up)

 checkmark

Quoting Iamcanadian (Thread starter):
Ottawa (Pittsburgh's lack of experience, and lack of defense aside from Gonchar, will lead to an early exit)

 checkmark

Quoting Iamcanadian (Thread starter):
Anaheim (Neids/Pronger, as well as the Flashing Finn will overpower the Wild)

 checkmark

Quoting Iamcanadian (Thread starter):
San Jose (Joe Thornton never ceases to find a way to single-handedly beat many teams)

 checkmark

Shut up and calculate.

Of course, I forget to bet on the Stanley Cup when I was in Vegas this past weekend...then again, probably a good thing since I don't want to jinx the Blueshirts.

Detroit Advances, and go Canucks for tonight! They desperately need an offense, Luongo can hold the net. He is amazing, but Turco is matching him nearly shot for shot.

Your a little early.
Try tomorrow, when hopefully, just hopefully, Dallas shall be still in it.
And I can finally start with the play-off content for powerplaygoal.com. (its been a long messy story for the last week)
Go Stars
(and if we loose, at least we can say, we got to game 7)

You wouldn't want to do that now would you?  duck  (searches for a cheap flight for a day trip to Vegas........)

During the recent LAS Meet, I put down three bets on the Thrashers (2 game bets one futures bet) and damn did I jinx them. Oh well, it was $60 that was going to end up in the hands of the casino company one way or another.

An interesting thing to note if the Canucks lose. If they lose then all for teams in the playoffs this year that missed them last year will have been eliminated. So far Atlanta, Minnesota, and the Islanders have been eliminated with Vancouver being on the brink tonight.

On a side note, is anyone else playing the NHL Quest For The Cup online game?

Let's put it this way.....to me, a Stars/Red Wings series hold a lot more interest than a Canucks/Ducks series, which is who either team would face should they win game 7 this evening.

Here's hoping for another great game in goal by Turco tonight. Go Stars!

Can't say as I'm pleased with the Dallas/Vancouver outcome. I would've much rather seen the Wings face the Stars than the Sharks in round 2. We have a much better record against Dallas. But, so be it. At least we got past that first round jinx this time. The Joe will be a rockin' come 7:30pm Thursday.

UPDATE

The second round matchups are as follows:

East-

New Jersey Devils vs. Ottawa Senators
Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Rangers

West-

Detroit Red Wings vs. San Jose Sharks
Anaheim Ducks vs. Vancouver Canucks

My picks:

Quoting Iamcanadian (Thread starter):
Buffalo (These guys are no Atlanta Thrashers...sorry Srbmod)
Ottawa (Brodeur hasn't been the best the entire playoffs, and Ottawa isn't the one-line team that the Lightning were. And they've also got a hot goalie.)

And now for the West...

San Jose (Unlike Calgary, San Jose has a potent offense, as well as a solid defense and a good goaltending tandem)
Anaheim Ducks (Sorry Vancouver, the Ducks actually have an offense AND a spectacular defense.)

Shut up and calculate.
