So as of today at 2300z time I am now officially an instrument AMEL/ASEL pilot, YAY!
I had mentioned in another thread I was gonna have my checkride soon, but it got weathered last weekend and I had it rescheduled for today, so I started a new thread to give you guys an update, and for some self gloss of course
Anyways a short trip report: it was friggin bumpy around PRC and there were plenty of cumulus clouds around and virga here and there. Interestingly the METAR said SKC. So we take off and at 500ft the hood goes on and I do the VOR 12 via the arc, with a circle to land on 21R. That went well except for the fact that I circled a bit too close. So we do a touch and go and proceed north to AKUHY the IAF for the GPS 21L, hold at AKUHY partial panel, and continue on the approach partial panel. On the hold though we got some severe turbulence (this was on a PA44 BTW) and some major updrafts. I was trying to maintain 10k but I couldn't for the life of me, I just sat there with the elevator 3/4 of the way in, nose pitched down about 10 deg, and even then we shot all the way up to 10500ft, at that point the check pilot just told me to not worry about the altitudes, upon which I said, sweet! (silently to myself of course )
This is whre I almost screwed up. I was supposed to go missed and just before reaching the missed app point, I tried hitting the SUSP button on the GPS (Garmin 430). Problem being, your supposed to hit the button AFTER the MAP, when the SUSP icon lights up above the OBS button. So instead, I was in OBS mode passing the MAP So I freaked out and pressed the button again, but one to many times so it was still on OBS mode. By that point I just decided to go to the direct page and input the missed app wpt upon which the check pilot said thats good enough and we went out back on a heading of 030 for simulated vectors for the ILS/DME 21L. That went fine until G/S intercept, where I "lost" my left engine. So I do the CPDIVE xlist and have the plane stabilized and just drift down on the GS and LOC, I look up and I have the runway right in front of me, so I go ahead and descend below MDA and greased it in. And called it a day.
So ya, that was my adventure for the day. Comments good and bad welcome

WTF? Why the hell did they move it here. Other people have posted stuff like this in tech/ops without it getting moved.
Anyways...
Quoting Brenintw (Reply 1): but obviously you handled it well
A really anal check pilot will want you to do everything withing the limitations in this one book. But the reasonable ones won't fail you as long as you don't make them fear for their lives and you do all procedures right.
