I was intrigued by the headline

"Huge green worms invade Texas neighborhood"


expecting some 1950's type sci-fi movie scenario.

In the article the worms are in fact caterpillars and probably aren't that huge either.

Are worms and caterpillars synonymous in the US or is that the usual story of having the bullshit attention grabbing headline with the rather different reality in the body of the report?
