Actually, there's still a chance she could be filling on weeks not being filled by Elton John, as the Divine Miss M isn't doing as many weeks a years as Celine's show has done. Elton isn't going to increase the number of shows he's doing there a year, and Cher's name (much like with Bette's) has been circling around Vegas for months now as well (then again, so has Michael Jackson's). Maybe they can get Wayne Newton to do some dates when Bette or Elton aren't in residence?  duck . Of course they could always just fill those weeks in with Jerry Seinfeld or some other comedians.

Will I go see her show? Maybe if I were comped some tickets. There's not really many shows out there (currently or on the horizon) that I want to see. Other than "Love", Penn & Teller, or if the Golden Nugget has someone Old School Vegas (Still think we should have taken in Don Rickles that Saturday night) performing while I'm there and maybe that Rat Pack tribute show over at the Greek Isles, there's nothing really in terms of shows I want to see while in Vegas (With the exception of those shows like Jubilee, Le Femme or Folies Bergere [Pretty much any show with boobs and feathers]). I'm sure folks really plan their trip to Vegas around going to see Carrot Top or Louie Anderson.

yeah, i've read that, too, but it wont be the full blown Cher-du-Soleil extravaganza that was planned. it'll be light something along the lines of Cher-lite. which is a shame. Cher really did put on a series of good concerts in 1999/2000 and 2002 - 2005. it would have been great to see what she did then expanded to a lot larger scale.

Stevie Nicks has said after this summer she's going to take at least a year off from touring. but rumors in her camp/fan clubs, etc. say that Caesar's has been after her to expand her series of 4 series of shows 3 times a year to eight show - two week engagements happening 4 times a year. apparently she's been quite the popular sell.

despite the price tag, Bette Midler really does put on a show worth the money.

I agree (although Celine sings better en Francais, then in English) whole heartedly. Bette is better, by far.

Quoting STLGph (Reply 12):

I am no up-to-date Mo (membership is always up for review every year), but Bette has it over Celine, everytime. She has had the gays from day one (look at where she got her start). Celine, well, she grew into the gays. She won them over by her "diva-ness".

Bette is timeless, no matter how old you are.

she has the better mouth, that's for damn sure.

Celine just stands there and talks about how important her son is to her and how blessed motherhood is and the most important thing she has ever done is start a family and loves to devote *every spare moment of her life to them* teaching them "the blessings that the world has given her life."

which of course is why she has 3 nannies.

makes me want to vomit. and never drive another Chrysler again.

Bette Midler is downright hysterical. nothing less than that. i saw her on tour in a couple of cities a couple of times and she was able to work different neighborhoods, types, colleges, sports teams, and even facts about the arena parking into her shows. Celine Dion wouldn't be able to find her way to the tinkle room if someone wouldn't have held her hand and lead the way.

True, so true.

But who has backed and held the gays in high esteem and have been then for us.

Bette (again, look at where she got her start).

Celine got hers by default.

There is a reason she is The Divine Miss M!

I won't make a special trip to see her, just because I've already seen her in concert several times, but I've I'm anywhere in the N Arizona/So Cal area, then I'd do it for sure. "I will never forget it ya know. . . "

Why does this thread sound so gay to me???

25 AeroWesty : Because you're getting in touch with your inner gaydar?
26 STLGph : $10 says he's watching Beaches on YouTube.
27 Searpqx : $5 on "Wind Beneath My Wings" on the iPod
28 AndesSMF : Atrophied from lack of use.
29 Post contains images AeroWesty : $3 on he's looking up where Bette started out.
30 AndesSMF : Why? I have a beach as my desktop picture. Sounds like its aviation related to me. Bette who?
31 Post contains images EWRCabincrew : Nice try...
32 STLGph : 30 says he's been there. and another 50 says next year he suggests Saturday night at the LAS meet is spent seeing Bette Midler.
33 AndesSMF : Since I know you can handle a gun, shoot me (please!) if you ever find me in one of those concerts.
34 STLGph : afraid you'll have a good time? afraid you might become a Liberal New York Jew?
35 AeroWesty : I think I just saw a glove indicating a duel thrown down!
36 Post contains images Ferengi80 : Barbra is the Queen Diva!!! She is truly amazing! She is doing a performance at the O2 Arena in London, and I would love to be there... only top rate
37 EWRCabincrew : Guilty as charged. I only semi-like one Babs song. 'Rain on my Parade'. And that is semi-like.
38 Searpqx : You might actually end up with the pink crowd outnumbering the straights! (though some of us would insist at pink flannel at the very least).
39 EWRCabincrew : We may be few in numbers for the flannel look, but we'd wear it with proud.
40 Post contains images Searpqx : I actually like the Emotion album, but that's because it doesn't sound like Babs at all (Heavily influenced by Maurice White of Earth Wind & Fire) I
41 AndesSMF : No purses allowed, Gavin! Who knows? My brother-in-law went to a Luis Miguel concert to meet some women.
42 Post contains images Searpqx : I had some straight friends in Dallas who offered to bmy my tickets to Melissa Etheridge if I'd just take them with me! I guess fair is fair, I used
43 Post contains images Srbmod : Another $50 says that he gets dropped in the desert somewhere between Las Vegas and Jean for making such a suggestion.... Both Bette and Babs get pla
44 AndesSMF : You are responsible for making sure this happens. Enlist help as needed.
45 LASOctoberB6 : actually yes....i just havent seen anyting around town about Midler and itll be the 1st time id heard about her live in years....
46 STLGph : she's played the Mandalay Bay a few times over the last couple of years.
