So how far are you from the nearest fire extinguisher ? Mine is right across my desk, 5 meters at the most.

Probably about 20 meters, on the other side of the fire door. I would have thought we have more, but we don't. Clearly they'd rather the building burn.

At wok, 25 feet away.

At home, in garage there are two. One for the kitchen is next to the door that leads into the Kitchen; the other is just inside the large garage door.

At work less than 2 metres from my desk; at home there is not one here; and I am not sure even if the next door neighbour has one and they are over 100 metres away.

Glad I don't have one at home as I keep running into it at work; as it hanging off the end of the staircase.

From where I'm sitting now (in my office / electronics shop) there is one less than 2 meters behind me. Then I have two in my mechanical shop in my converted barn, since I do some welding work from time to time. I have a fire blanket in my kitchen, smoke detectors all over the house and two smoke hoods under my bed in my bedroom, which is a converted attic. The reason is that the house (built in 1900) is largely made of wood and would be a trap in a fire.

I'm located 17 steps from the nearest fire extinguisher in our house. It is a 9 lb dry chemical extinguisher.

We bought it last year after I took a smaller (3 lb ?) unit next door to put out our neighbour's stove top grease fire. I was not impressed with that very small unit and I thought we should really have a larger unit to give us a better chance of putting out a serious fire.

Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.

At home: I don't own one. I have no idea if any neighbors do. I'm screwed.
At work: Probably no more than 15 seconds running at any time. But of course why would I run to the extinguisher if work was on fire? I'd run out the door and let the place burn down, thats how much I care about work.

That's what we have, and since we have sprinklers, the city doesn't require fire extinguishers and my bosses won't let me spend the money to buy any.

Have one at home sitting on the workbench in the garage.

About three meters. Out of my room across the hall, and straight on my right as I enter the kitchen opposite.

the garden hose is about 20 feet from me. 25 second running time if I forget to open the door... if I do open the door, its about 5 seconds. (Don't have to pick myself back up, etc).

Oh, we're talking about fire extinguishers, as in the little red bottles, not a stream of water? About 200 feet, next door.

At work about 5 feet. We have at least one fire a week around here so it is best to know where they are hanging.

Well at home I don't have one at all. However, at work we have them all over the place. There are 3 rows of presses in my area with 16 presses in each row. A fire extinguisher is placed at the end of every other press. There's about 3-4 feet in between each press. Since I started there almost 2 years ago no one has ever had to use one (if we have a fire we dump it on the floor and stomp it out)

No more than 10 feet. I do all of my ammunition reloading in this room and all of my amateur radio gear is in the room too, therefore it is imperitave to have a good extinguisher handy just in case something were to go wrong.

About three feet away, bolted to the wall at behind my desk.

At home I have one bolted to my reloading bench.

I just measured the distance to mine too. Big grin The distance from my current location to the extenguisher is 58 feet. I'm upstairs and it is half way into my basement...  scared  And as I was measuring the distance my dad said we should get a new one. We've had it for 8 years now and it's covered in dust.
