I've just decided to buy something off ebay, so I created an account, or should I say it took my email address and merged it into an old account of mine (which I got years ago and never activated it), I then made an account with pay pal, still going fine here after some trouble sorting my postcode out.

I clicked the buy now thing and then filled out all the details, got all my messages to tell me payment was received and it would be shipped, to my new address (which I had to force feed ebay because it was still using my old address from 5 years ago). Well that went through fine, I added a note on to the seller with my current address in case it didn't go through properly.

Anyway, I thought I would remove the old address, you know to keep my account current. Well I need my password, fine, except my password doesnt work, in fact none of the 6 I have work, so having clicked "forgot my password" it wants some details off me, fine, I'm all for security especially since (my) money is involved.

I put in my old postcode and my date of birth, wrong! I change to my new postcode, its wrong, my DOB is wrong too. I try and fiddle around to understand what the hell is actually happening and why my info doesnt match up and am now stuck, since I can't technically sign into my account, nor change details because my password doesnt work but I cant get a new password because my details appear to be wrong.

I got so wound up with it I am now actually having chest pains!

Have you tried shooting an email off to Ebay themselves? They should be able to sort the mess out.

Yeah, I got about half way through it before figuring out a way of getting my details right, I put in my old postcode and my old private telephone number (I had my own line for the internet back in those days), I only stumbled on the number by accident earlier.

I've managed to reset my password now and am currently editing my details, and figuring what went wrong with my DOB.

Sounds like your old account could have been hacked/hijacked if none of your details work, like DOB/password etc.

Suggest you contact Thiefbay about it but be ready for the extremely patronising automated reply you get back....
