Geico Caveman TV Show May Be A Go....

It's A Modern Stone Age Atlanta....

ABC announces their Fall Schedule on Tuesday and The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that they have given a series order for a sitcom based on the cavemen in the GEICO commercials. The kicker is that these cavemen don't live in New York City, Chicago, San Franciso, or even L.A.; they live in Atlanta. I guess they decided to set it in the South because of the image of the South being "backwards".

If this rumor is true, I hope the show bombs and gets canceled in less than 4 episodes.

You're kidding me. What a ridiculous idea. The commercials are awful & it's bad enough that they won't go away.

So they're going to have, in the middle of a world of normal people...cavemen?

That's generous...I hope it never even gets off the ground.

They let great shows get the ax like "Arrested Development" (I'm still peeved over that cancellation) but let some pretty shoddy programing stay put (I'm talking to you CBS). It's pretty sad when you develop a TV show off of an ad campaign, an ad campaign that's already started to wane.

Much as I like the GEICO Caveman commercials....

The Caveman TV show has already been done... And it didn't work in the 60s either....

Further proving that all of the ideas for TV shows have been done. Makes you wonder what recycled ideas are on the horizon or never got green lighted.

"It's About Time" was from the same people that did "Gilligans Island" and it followed the same formula. They probably could have changed some names in a Gilligan script and used it for It's About Time. Few remember It's About Time and those that do only remember it for the theme song, probably explains why they are considering doing another caveman show. Nobody would do another sitcom about castaways on a island....

but were caveman "iconic" as such then? no.

it's just a tv show. don't watch it if you don't want to.

it is nice to see something different on the air, outside of another reality show or a cop drama.

posting from my view of the Star Trek Experience I must point out that assimilation necessarily means de-humanization!

The Flintstones was a modern day version of the Honeymooners and intended for adults. The ideas may be similar in some ways....it depends on how the deal is written and we don't know about that.

The people who are quick to dismiss this idea are doing so based on preconceived notions.

I hope the show never survives the pilot... The good thing about ABC shitcanning it so quickly, is that people will have finally shown Gieco that we are sick and damn tired of those lame comercials, and they'll pull the plug on those damn ads finally!

Fair enough. Since I've been in every state that could technically be considered the 'south', I will express my opinions freely.

It seems rather like a backwards "Land of the Lost"'

They play reruns of this show over a new show on the GEICO cavemen. I'd be more apt to watch "Land of the Lost"

No because the slow ones in ROC know who they are and the rest of us do too. When they get called out, we own it, unlike all the Southerners who are still fighting the war and argue the stereotypes at the same time they are perpetuating them.

Its all good though.
