Berhard Kouchner has been expelled from his own party ( Socialists ) because he accepted to be nominated as the new French Foreign Minister.
François Hollande (PS Chairman ) declared this morning,Kouchner did not make part of the French Socialist Party any longer, since he was a traitor...
What a poor understanding of national priorities and social common sense...

And a nice example of sectarianism.

The future of the Socialist Party in France lies in Strauss-Kahn, as he is one of the few to show gravitas and economic realism, coupled with.. some more political savvy!

This will result in an even poorer showing in the Congressional elections next month for those guys.

(Cannot help but be happy about it!)  Big grin

Take off and live

French Socialist's are rapidly loosing credibility because of the huge difference between paroles and acts...
Expelling a respected personality like Kouchner from the party he has been member since many year ( he still re-initerated this morning he would always vote left ..!! ) is an act that will back-fire on Hollande and his Neo-trotzkist friends very soon...(as soon as next months parliament elections..)
Some politicians that have a party book but don't do party politics have been appointed this morning in the new government.
It shows that Sarkozy keeps paroles he gave during the election-battle. Nicolas Hulot has openly approved the nomination of Alain Juppé as sole "Ministre d'étât" in charge of environment and -de facto-number two in the cabinet hierarchy.
When the Socialist Major of Montpellier (Frèche ) repeatedly insulted in a racist manner the Harkis (former North African allies of France during the wars..) or made similar racist remarks toward the French Rugby-team (they have anumber of coloured players..) ,it took the party Socialiste five months to mildly react...(but not to permanently exlude Frèche from the Socialist Party..)
They are loosing their initial ideas and move away from real life more and more...

Mr Hollande has revealed himself to be a narrow-minded townsman

I heard it on the news earlier, nice way to display integrity - NOT!  sarcastic  Last time I checked, opposing political parties were just that: opponents, not enemies.

He's a sore loser.

What a way of thanking a guy who's been giving him and his party a good deal of support. I bet that if Hollande had been given a positio in the government he would have accepted it and said something to the effect of: 'It'll help introduce socialist ideas in this right-winged government...'

This will just help the socialist get even more isolated and loose credibility in the french political landscape. I believe this is part of why Sarkozy named him. Not that he is not capable of filling the seat though, well on the contrary.

Selfish act by the frensh socialists, hoping for more votes on the upcoming parliament election!
It was a gesture and yet a huuuge political coup of Srakozy choosing socialist and centre party politicians into his cabinet ... socialists realised that and instead of being proud they kicked Kouchner ....

Which is exactly what Sarko wanted to achieve as this will further weaken the public opinion of the socialist party for the parliament election next month. Kouchner is a popular figure in France, regardless of what side you vote for.

Sure, but would anybody want Mr Hollande in a government ?  Big grin A politician who right now has shown a deplorable lack of perspectives and tolerance. If the Socialists are to lose in the parliamentary elections in the way many now expect, he will be ousted in due course anyway.

not only in France. I would say he is a kind of icon, a more modern and male version of Mother Theresa. How anybody can expel the founder of the "Medecins Sans Frontieres" from a party is completely beyond my understanding !  Yeah sure
