From the article:

"I have been to every Champions League game this season and to go to the final was the dream finish but it has been snatched away because of some two-bit airline."

Well, I understand that not everyone can afford to fly BA, but if it's that important to you, don't book your flight on "some two-bit airline." Doesn't that just stand to reason?

Ok so they couldve boarded the plane but im sure most if not all wouldve asked to get off if told there was a technical problem. If it was that the pilot was drunk as a newt or something that could be prevented then sure they have reason to complain but planes go tech all the time.

But with such an important event surely the airline should have had a contingency plan and got them another aircraft?!

What's important about it ? It's only football. The contingency was that they got a plane in the first place !

I bet none of em had tickets for the "event" anyway

You would think that, but at the end of the day that could cost them (the airline) more than the profit of the tickets also how do we know this airline has more than one AC?

Of course. Providing everyone is prepared to pay for a standby aircraft, which they never are. Aircraft are not just lying about to take over when something goes wrong. Otherwise you have multi-million dollar ornaments.
