When I about 12-13 and on vacation with my family at the Swan Hotel at Disney, I had the one in a million chance of seeing Joe DiMaggio. Yep, me and my dad were sitting in the lobby and Joe and his bodyguard just walked right by us. I wanted to get up and meet him, but he looked like he was going somewhere, so I just watched him walk by. I couldn't believe I had the priviledge to see a REAL baseball player and an American icon.

Bonnie Raitt (nice lady), saw Dennis Quade (seemed like an ass), saw Alec Baldwin (I almost passed out.)
A friend of mine was walking in the French Quarter eating an icecream cone. Some lady walked out of a store not looking where she was going and bumped into him, knocking his ice cream all over herself. She expressed a few choice words. He looked up, realized it was Martha Stewart, said, "oh crap" and ran off down the street. Said she seemed like a real bitch.
Somebody else I know was staying in a hotel in D.C. for a business trip. All of these people kept running up and down the hall screaming. Finally she goes out into the hall to see what all the fuss is about. A young man came out of his room. He apologized about all the noise. Her being a very outspoken woman said, "What in the hell is going on here? I'm trying to get some sleep. I have a meeting in the morning." He apologized and asked her if she knew who he was. She said "no." He said, well ma'am, I play baseball for the NY Yankees (or something like that.) She said, "Well, I still have no idea who you are and I'd like to get some sleep." She went back into her room. He came to her door and asked her if he could make it up to her by buying her breakfast in the morning. She said fine. The next morning she met him in the lobby. He asked her again if she knew who he was. Finally he told her, he was Usher. She was like "who???" He said, "Lady, I'm a singer." She goes, "Well, if you're not Tina Turner or Earth, Wind, and Fire I don't know who you are." What's really funny, is that when she went home she called her sister (who related the story to me) and told her, "Guess who I met! I met FLUSHER!!!"

My mom saw Jerry Springer entering the Intercontinental hotel this summer while she was on a business trip in Chicago. She had no idea who it was, until my aunt (who went to Chicago with her to go shopping) said to her "That's Jerry Springer!!!"
Ironically, they saw him again 2 days later while at a resturant having lunch...
(She was thinking about taking me on that trip, but didn't. I would have gone nuts when I saw Jerry Springer, or any celebrity.)

Bishop Muzarewa from Zimbabwe. He is apparently a national hero there. He is a United Methodist bishop who was jailed for political reasons. Apparently he made the news again today, asking President Mugabe to stop the white-land rioting so that there can be a peaceful election coming soon.
I met him when I was less than ten years old -- probably when I was about seven years old. I had heard so much about him and his struggles, and our church (a United Methodist church) participated in a letter-writing campaign to help get him freed from jail. He visited the U.S. and came to our church to thank us. I cried when I finally got to shake his hand. He apparently liked what he saw in me, and he sent me a panoramic shot of Jerusalem with a personal dedication (frame and all.) It still hangs in my old room back at my parents' house.

I've seen Oprah Winfrie's boyfriend, Stedman something, at PHX last year. He's very tall, about 6'4", very thin, and likes to eat a lot. He was in front of us in line at the food court at PHX and he bout 2 tacos, some soup, salad, and a beverage. He seemed down-to-earth and really nice, and minded his own business, and was very respectful.
I've met news personalities from Cleveland, like Bill Martin, Stephanie Schafer, Andre Bernier, and Dick Goddard.
I've also met my city's mayor several times. I live in a suburb of Cleveland, and my dad went to high school with the mayor, so it's no biggie to go say "Hello" to him.
