Hello,
Just a question, what kind of specifications do you think are necessary to become a respected user?

I have 34 people on my respected users. 10 of them I have no clue why they respect me. The others I either helped find pictures, or were just nice to. Me and Braniff Place like defunct airlines.  Big thumbs up

What's it take, I don't know. I have been here 11 months now and only 6 people respect me. Basically, I'll respect anyone if they respect me. And then people like ILS are respected by 34 people and have been here 2 months, so that shows you that ILS is very popular, and someone like me isn't.

Looks like Shushka is respected because he is Russian, no just kidding. I am also Russian.

Shushka, I was in Draper, UT in May, got cousins there. I know Provo is not far.

Kcle,

Take in to account that you have 433 posts, and ILS is heading towards 1,800 posts. More people know of him because he posts more then you do. Don't feel bad!

1. Someone who is easy to get along with
2. Someone respects you for who you are, not for your opinions.

Many people are only respected because of humouros stuff they post. Actually that counts the most I'd say.
There's many people around here that are really, really popular but don't know more about aviation than most of the other users that are not that respected. It used to be better when there was only the aviation forum (not the non-av forum) but on the other hand at that time there wasn't anything like a respected users list I think.

So basically if you want to be respected by many people you somehow have to be funny or make sick jokes  Wink/being sarcastic

Alitalia... All I think is that you have to be a good guy, that does not always follow or conform with the popular guys on here that have 50 people on their respected user list. Kinda seems rather like high school to me. Just being yourself and speaking what you feel gains alot of respect from the right people that see your way.

KaiTakFan, Basically I think you are right. I think that when people share a common interest such as aviation, and the a.net forum, that provides them the matrix (club companionship) necessary for establishing friendships. People become friends when they see all of a sudden that someone sees the same things that they do. This sets them apart from the rest of the club even though they are still in the club. And when the friends find someone else with the same particular view or interest they are more than happy to widen their friendship circle to include them. The problem arises when the circle becomes more important than the thing the friendship was about. Then it becomes a clique or mutual admiration society. So trying to get inside of these circles is not the way to make friends, being yourself is. If you are yourself. and someone else has the same interests as you than you will probably become friends. If you spend your time trying to get in circles, you will only find that that within the circle is yet other circles. In short be yourself, friends will come.
