Err, if he resigns from the party named after him the party is over. This makes no sense. If the party is named after you it is a given that you always represent the views of your party. To say otherwise would be schizophrenic.

I'd disagree here, but what should happen instead is that the residents of Connecticut who no longer agree with him should resign their affiliation (and not vote for him, if this is truly how they feel).
