I took this one today. Others will follow in the coming days for your viewing pleasure.
Amtrak #58, the norhtbound City of New Orleans, with 1 P42 locomotive and 7 Superliners departing New Orleans on time at 1:45pm en route for Chicago by way of Jackson, Memphis, Carbondale, Champaign, and other stops.

Tomorrow morning, God willing, I'm going to wake up early and catch the northbound Crescent, train #20, head off for NYP. Then on Monday, i'll catch train #1, the Sunset Limited, departing for LAX. So stay tuned for those videos.
I figure I might as well get my fill of Amtrak while I still can...when I move to ATL next week, my Amtrak spotting options will be fewer.

Really? That little shack that says "Amtrak Station" I always drive by off of I-85 looks full of life...

Well I said "fewer", not shot altogether.
From what I hear the Crescent is pretty popular with Atlanta passengers going up to D.C.

What, no sound? No playing of "City of New Orleans" by Arlo Guthrie in the background?

AMTRAK should be enjoyed while it's still around...I don't know how it's going to look in 5 years.
When you get to ATL it'll be easy to get back to MSY for visits since the trip there and back are both day trains and very inexpensive for a roomette. Less than $200 rountrip...you can't pay the gas with that in a car.
Nice video of the train, but I'm with Halls...where's the music?

Just 1 train in each direction.

It is damn sure popular with New Orleans-Atlanta passengers. They reserve a whole coach for Atlanta out of NOL

Maybe in your car

Oh, I meant on video. My move is in five days so unfortunately there's no time to catch a train.

Yep. And it's a single level one at that. I've always liked the Superliners better. Although Viewliner sleepers are pretty nice.
