Spice Girls Announcement Today

The Spice Girls are widely expected to announce they are reforming at a press conference in London today. It will be the first official public appearance by all five members since Geri Halliwell quit in May 1998.

Is it what we really really want? Mel C, better known as Sporty Spice, told the BBC that any reunion would be for "a very short space of time... a final goodbye".

Just long enough to make a huge wad of cash then?

My thoughts exactly!

Maybe I am getting old, but who wants to see a bunch of young ladies, probably now past their prime, and Talentless Spice (aka Mrs Beckham) mime their way through some more performances. Mind you, as far as I am concerned most of today's hit songs sound like pre-recorded phone announcements.

People have long lost good taste in music. It's quite saddening.

AFter the Take That reunion, I guess these thought there is a market for them too. Well as long as they produce different more mature music, why not. I was allergic to Take That, but it seems their new music is as if from a completely different band.

Is that a new picture of them? I have seen pictures of each individually, and they have changed drastically, amazing how they can patch them up to look like they did so easily! Or is that an old picture?

Oh, the Spice Girls were always just a bit of fun, and they knew it/know it. I mean, did anyone ever claim they had much talent? They had a couple of fun songs written for them among the tripe, and the spice movie was funny and clever because it didn't take itself too seriously. I can think of many groups that are much lamer, yet currently quite trendy. Plus, I always found Scary very sexy--even if Sporty aparently had to explain to her who Gordon Brown was at their press conference yesterday.

But that's exactly the point. Imagine what a sore disappointment it would have been if those greats had reuinted: besides the "sellout" accusations that would automatically have followed, they would have been shadows of their former selves--and they knew it. The very best groups are usually the ones who perceive/recognize when what they have stops working as well, for whatever reason, and choose to leave their admirers wanting more, rather than wishing they hadn't recorded their latest album. The Spice Girls, on the other hand, have almost nothing to lose.

Was that Black Spice (or whatever she is called) at that conference? Saw snapshots on CNN, she changed so much, what happened to the body and the funky hair? These two constitued 99% of who she was in the spice girls (the remaining 1% being her voice).

One where girls (who aren't rich enough already *cough*) want huge amounts of money.

I used to love them, if they ruin my opinion of them i'll be very disappointed. At the end of the day, they're not going to come up with a song as good as "Wannabe" are they?
