EIHL - Elite Ice Hockey League - is one of the main Ice Hockey leagues in the UK. I thought as there are quite a few threads for NHL, I would start one about EIHL!

I am a keen follower of the Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club, who play their home games at the Altrincham Ice Dome. We had a good season last season, especially when you consider that we had to play our home games in Deeside, North Wales, and Sheffield, Yorkshire.

We have been fortunate to have Tony Hand MBE resign as player / coach for the 2007/8 season, as well as Simon Mangos and Scott Basiuk in Defence. We have also resigned Adam Walker and Matthew Rich in Forward positions, and have new signings of Aran Fox as netminder, Jeff MacMillan as Defence, and Rhys McWilliams as Forward.

And Phoenix Fans will be delighted to hear that we have resigned two superb players, KC Timmons and Brett Clouthier!

Don't know what you all think of the Elite League Ice Hockey - I adore Ice Hockey, and find the Elite League to be excellent entertainment. Ice Hockey has a bigger following in the UK than you would realise. Don't know how many of you have been to see a game, but I would strongly recommend it!

And remember - keep your eyes on the puck!

I think resign should have a '-' in it!

Wow! That's great! I mean that there is a big following of Ice Hockey in there! I remember we saw the English National Team play in IIHC Pool A World Championships some years back. But where did they go?

Good to see a thread about hockey in the UK for once.
I'm not an Elite league fan, my teams in a "much" lower league, the EPIHL.
I support Chelmsford. Which, is where I will be living next year.

Is this the same league that Theo Fleury played in, for Belfast, a couple of years back? If so, I know he wasn't there long, but I wonder if you could tell me: Did he really have much of an impact on the game? Over here it was perceived as a bid of an oddity when he went over there - I guess much like Beckham coming to MLS!

Next flight.... who knows.

Quoting Jean Leloup (Reply 5):

Yes, that's the league. Apparently he got in quite a few disagreements with refs and opposing players as well. But he did put up 81 points in 38 games.
