In a playfully humorous faux radio address today, George W. Bush showed the world that he still has his sense of humor in spite of .... well, everything. Here's a sample:
"Democrats are failing in their responsibility to make tough decisions and spend the people's money wisely. This moment is a test."
News flash to the American taxpayer: Being in Iraq now costs you $9 billion a month. It must have been a tough decision to "stay the course".
White House toady Tony Fratto added, "We saw this with immigration, and we're seeing it with some other issues where Congress is having an inability to take on major challenges,"
Tony, you may not have read the newspapers or "The World Wide Web", but opposition from the conservative base sank Bush's shitty immigration bill, along with opposition from everybody else who felt like amnesty for 12 million illegals was a bad idea. Please don't piss on my leg and tell me it is raining, OK? Thanks.
"Democrats have a chance to prove they are for open and transparent government..."
It doesn't really matter what comes next because the idea of George W. Bush lecturing anyone on open and transparent government is laughable at best. It would be like Ted Kennedy giving driving lessons, am I right, cons?
"No nation has ever taxed and spent its way to prosperity," Bush said. "And I have made it clear that I will veto any attempt to take America down this road."
The road to prosperity? Just like you vetoed the attempt to take us down the road to peace? Just like you vetoed the attempt to take us down the road to medical research using embryonic stem cells that were going to be disposed of anyway? Which road does record deficit spending put us on?
"I urge Democrats in Congress to step forward now and pass these bills one at a time. "
Strange silence from The Decider about how the Republican controlled 109th congress failed to pass any appropriations bills save for Homeland Security. It took a little while for the grown ups to clean the mess left by the rubber stampers, so be patient, Georgy.
What a card, what a cut-up. Those were some knee-slappers. A couple of way-homers in there. Now, where is the real radio address?
