Rep. Bob Allen arrested on sex charge, Orlando Sentinel 12 July 2007

This time a Florida State Rep.

He also served (served?) as John McCain's FL Campaign Chairman. Looks like he was caught in the act by a uc.

Oops!

I think the illegal part which warrants the use of the word "caught" is that he was being paid for a sexual performance. Not that it was gay sex. The title is somewhat misleading IMHO.

A quick stint at a local Christian rehab center, some personal counseling with his local church and a little prayer in which he's forgiven by God and all will be good.

Except that he'll still have received payment in return for gay sex.

But all that stuff up there in the first sentence makes it all go away.

Right? I mean, we've seen it done before by other (R) lawmakers, so it works, right?

Right?

I love the fact that a Florida State Rep., who probably has plenty of money, was whoreing himself out for only 20 bucks.
His next step after jail will probably be to join Ted Haggard's rehab group, and pretend he has been cured of his homosexuality.

I wonder where he stood on "family values".  rotfl

From the article:

"Allen, 48, who chairs the House Committee on Energy, is married and has one child. He also is a former Little League volunteer and has donated time to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida."

Wow. What a blow to the family.

But it's still relatively humorous.

I have a question.

If being Gay is fine and normal, and of moral equivalence to being straight, why is it that we never hear of straight people prostituting themselves even if they are gainfully employed, state reps, and all that? What's the deal with gay promescuity?

For the record, this guy wasn't prostituting himself, he was offering a blowjob. Aka. he wanted to perform oral sex on someone, and offered to pay the police officer $20. As for straight lawmakers paying people for sex? That happens all the time. Have you heard of the DC Madam? As for gay promiscuity - in general gay men might have fewer hang ups about sex, but it probably has more to do with the fact that they're male than the fact that they're gay.

I reread the article, and it seems pretty clear to me that he wanted to be paid for the BJ.

What, only 20$ for a BJ????  Wow!

That seems pretty cheap, it costed me a lot more in the beginning for sweetening up my GF before she would perform this unspeakable act.  Silly

Granted that article is rather vague on who was offering who the $20, but this one is less so: http://www.wesh.com/news/13667255/detail.html

Nor is this one: http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2007/...rcover_officer_20_o/?breaking_news

Or this one: http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbc...cle?AID=/20070712/NEWS01/707120340

I think that's probably sufficient to make it clear that Allen was the one offering to pay $20 to give the blowjob, not asking for $20.

Which makes me think that gays or people who are questioning their sexuality who marry yielding to social pressure are being terribly unfair to their future spouses and family.

My mom confessed to me that one of my cousins had the same "problem" i have - but he is now married w 2 children. And let me tell you - as a wonderful woman and cute kids as they have - my gaydar still goes haywire when i see him. Unfair assessment on my part? maybe..

Most gays (that i know) do not prostitute themselves for sex. But one look at that man - and paying is the only way he was gonna get some..

You joke but don't ever underestimate the power of an apology and public asking of foregiveness by God and the Church to the voting public. Case in point...The Esteemed Mayor of DC, Marion Berry. How many political lives does that clown have?

There is a reason why we call it the Borelando Sentinel. They aren't that good. Some of their sports beat writers are good but coverage of local news is debatable. Has been that way as long as I have been reading it going back into the 70s.

No, no, no, no, no, no and no. He did the soliciting, which only means he was the one who initiated the exchange. He was definitely on the paying end. Just trust me on this one.

Something like 60% of "gay hustlers" are straight. Then there are all the straight ones hiring themselves out for straight sex. Jeez, there's boatloads of them.

McCain's campaign has fallen into some hard times lately, that is for sure.

Their second quarter fundraising efforts were poopy, he's laid off about 100 staffers in the past week, and 3 top aides for the Iowa campaign have thrown in their resignations. Plus, he's skipping the Straw Poll next month missing out on lots of recognition, press, and outreach.
