Out of the 2 films......which one is better, Casino or Goodfellas?

Discuss.

I think Goodfellas, but both are stellar.

none...don't like any of his movies to be honest! they're all the same family of leopards just different spots! but if I was forced to pick one it wouldn't be either of those...Cape Fear by 10 miles and maybe more is probably the best.

Goodfellas hands down. Though seeing Don Rickles get beaten with the phone by Pesci was priceless.

Both superb, from a director scandalously neglected by the drones who decide Oscars, until for 'The Departed'-a great film but essentially a re-make.

Both are at the very top of their genre, but for me it's, by a nose, Casino.
Not the film buff choice I know, but it's over the top insanity is right for a film set in Vegas.

"The Color Of Money" was his best movie.

Casino!

They're having a trial right now here in Chicago for many of the major players in the story line that surrounds the movie --

It's a really hard choice for me, love both films. But Casino wins by a nose because of my love of Las Vegas. Goodfellas is more quotable though. I've found myself from time to time using "go get your shine box" . In many ways, Pesci is practically playing the same character in both films. In Casino, his acting is so over the top at times, you start to laugh, especially when he beats up on someone.

This is a toughy...

I vote Casino... just... like 1/1000000000000 of a percent better... they are both great films

Robert deNiro was at his best in Casino IMHO, but Goodfellas made Joe Pesci, his performance in Casino was a redo of Goodfellas... like i said, hard decision...

Both movies are good, but "Goodfellas" still wins it by a long shot. More aspects of "Goodfellas" stand out for me than "Casino". Plus I think the plot is better. Although, the big payback at the end of "Casino" is great.

Especially when that scene comes back (in a way) years later when that actor - playing Christaphuh Moltisanti on The Sopranos repays the favor to a bakery clerk who mouths off.

And when the clerk screams, "You shot me in the foot!" the reply is, "It happens..." Priceless!

Actually, it's amazing how many people from Goodfellas ended up on The Sopranos - the actors and actresses that played Dr. Melfi, Carmela's mom, Christaphuh, Phil Leotardo, Big Pussy Bonpenserio, and a few others were all in Goodfellas.

Good fellas hands down, although Casino is still excellent. I loved in casino how they talked outside with their hands over their mouths so the FBI could not read their lips. Hysterical!

I prefer Casino as well because of the Las Vegas storyline. I also like De Niro, he fits perfect into the roll of a casino manager.

I agree again, one of my favourite scenes in this movie.

FRANKIE you piece of shit!

(great scene)

Goodfellas was better I thought. But Casino was just behind it. Henry Hill's snitching I disagreed with.
But it really happened in that family in the 80s, so what are you going to do?

There are just so many quotable lines in both, (typical of Scorcese), and whilst Goodfellers has more of them, it seems, on reading the non fiction book about the Casino story, that Pesci was not over-acting much considering what the real Tony 'The Ant' was like.
Though when the 'head in a vice' really happened, 'The Ant' was eating his lunch nearby.
Also, Casino had a revelation - Sharon Stone could act!

The Ant was probably one of the crazier people in Mafia history, right up there with Joey Gallo.

I liked both of the Payback scenes, the one with House of the Rising Sun and the Layla one in Goodfellas. Both were extremely well done.

For my  twocents  I'd have to say Casino as it was more memorable to me although the story of Goodfellas seemed to be better portrayed in the film compared with Casino. If I have to make a choice I choose Casino, but in reality they're about even in my book.

I don't watch movies much at all, but you're leaving out a lot of popular stuff, IMO. It amazes me how Pesci could go back and forth from the gutter trash-talking dirtbag in Scorcese's movies to the bumbling, easy-to-pity mope in the Home Alone movies.

I'm genuinely surprised to see so many pick Casino. (over GoodFellas)

I felt Casino was an overdone, overdirected (actually Cape Fear was even in worse in that department) unpleasant, hateful movie.

Not to mention that the story introduction spans more than 1 hour.

Some of the supporting characters were fairly unconvincing, like James Woods, and there were just too many people involved.

For GoodFellas everything just gelled. Ray Liotta *was* Henry Hill. And it had heart & humour, heart & humour.
