Industrial, military, household, hobby....what type of robotics are you talking about?

Robotics is replacing people on production lines and its speeding things up faster for factories, so its cool because we can do more stuff in twice the time than before. I also think its useful for law enforcement agencies because it saves a life when having to go up close and personal with bomb. What a cool thread Andrea. Thanks.

I think sometimes, particularly the Japanese are going too far. They're making robots that look like humans. I even heard of a robot that can discuss politics, or dispense political information.

I just think sometimes people are simply motivated by the desire to advance, simply for the sake of advancement, even if it's not even necessary (at least in these two cases).

And I don't want to hear anyone say I'm some kind of luddite. I understand the need for technology, and a necessity to make advancements and modifications when necessary. I just sometimes wonder if it's always wise to make advancements for the sake of advancement.

I have always suspected that Andrea Kent, A.K.A. Blackbird, is really a Turin Project. Is this a hint? Is there any questions we could ask Blackbird to discover the truth?

Nearly everything that is made in China could be made with robotics. Robotic useage would be much greater if not for the fact that Chinese labor is very cheap. I don't think the Japanese have really gone much further than the Americans or the Europeans. I guess we should all watch I-Robot again to decide if Robotics is going too far.

You think I'm a robot - WTF? I'm just a mildly mood-disordered 24 year old with Asperger's syndrome... that might explain why you'd think I'd sound like a robot.

But seriously, I just think the Japanese go a little too far in the robotic / robotic-gadget field, a robotic-dog (when there are plenty of REAL dogs at animal-shelters and pounds), a robot that looks almost like a human, which I can see little good use for -- That's just creepy. What possible good could that be for?

I just see it as advancing technology simply for the sake of advancing it.

Andrea....do you wear a tinfoil hat?
Is everything a conspiracy?

Wow...like everyone of your threads is about some sort of world takeover, and government conspiracies.

Don't you think you are just a bit paranoid?

Lets face it.. The real end goal is the robotic girlfriend. Thats what every geek.... and a lot of non geeks want out of robotics. Anything else developed along the way is just paying the bills.

OK, from what I know, people that have that disorder are intelligent, have great memories, and sometimes are illogical. You sound like a computer-robot to me. Who do we know? OK, here is a Turin question for you. No fair searching your great hard drive to find the answer.
