Bad news for Cleveland Roxx though. Maybe KROC will let them have Losman on the cheap.......

Very true, as they've indicted and convicted folks in Virginia on similar charges with a lot less evidence than this.

The downside of this from an NFL perspective is that even if the Falcons were to release him as a result of this indictment (or if he gets convicted or makes a plea deal), they'd still be on the hook for the guaranteed part of his salary, which will be about a 10th of the salary cap. If the NFL decides to suspend him, the team would still be on the hook for it in regards to the salary cap.

After all, we signed his backup in Miami last season, Joey Harrington, so why not him?

Right now, after Vick, we've got Harrington, D.J. Shockley and Chris Redman

Then he pulled a handgun on some heckling teenagers at a McDonald's.

I am supremely disappointed in Mike Vick. The dude has all that talent and let's something as stupid as this bring him down. It's been coming for a while, and he's skated on a couple of issues. Unless some evidence that has been discussed proves to be false then I won't support the Falcons if they play him. A significant chunk of the fanbase won't either. The team'll be left with the dogfighter element and the apologists who insist he's being discriminated against counter to all reason, evidence and logic.

I was a fan of the man after he made the efforts and played with heart....I wrote off the childish crap, and respected and remarked on his growth as a player and person. As a fan of the sport and sportsmanship I'm really pissed.

I thought they all had a morals clause in their contracts. I think that if he's convicted of a crime then the Falcons are not liable for his salary and consequently the salary cap.

Quoting Copaair737 (Reply 7):

I don't know...he's got potential, but I wonder whether they'd be able to rebuild the offense around him that quickly. Right now it doesn't play to his strengths. I hope he starts where he is, since that's the only reason he left.

Quoting Copaair737 (Reply 7):

Maybe....if he's healthy.

Dude...those guys are so old it's not funny. But I'd bet Billy Joe is available.....  Wink

Quoting Srbmod (Reply 11):

I'd like to see what happens with the development of DJ Shockley...he's a class act and a stand up guy who can lead a team. Its a shame he only got one year to play at UGA as the main man.....but he stuck it out there for the team and that counts. He works hard and plays smart. If Harrington doesn't get it done Shockley'll be in there, and I hope it's not too early.

I'm going to be curious to see if Roger Goddell sticks to his "zero-tolerance" clause with regards to Vick.
It's one thing to suspend Pac-Man Jones, another to do so to Mike Vick.
I hope he does though, if not, he'll look weaker as the commish.

The difference is that Adam Jones has had NUMEROUS run-ins with the law. Vick hasn't (at least not in terms of beig charged with anything, if you count the water bottle/airport thing).

Goodell's crackdown hits repeat offenders mostly, although he could issue some discipline consistent with the NFLPA agreement under that nebulous catch-all "conduct detrimental to the league" clause.

Yeah, but didn't he make a statement that all players that got into trouble with the law would receive disciplinary actions against them?
Ron Mexico wouldn't be any different.

That's all actions of Mike Vick's little brother Marcus who isn't playing anywhere anymore.
And my "real sweetheart" comment was sarcasm. Both of them should drink bleach.
