Have you ever had an inflammation in your gum?

Also, if the dentist is not consulted, will it heal by itself?

Please talk about your experiences.

Better go to the Dentist A.S.A.P. If not treated, could cause some pretty nasty S**t, I don't even know what it is, but get it checked before you have to have your teeth removed.

Just the size of a tooth below one of the teeth.

I have had somthing similair to what I think you are mentioning. In my case it went away in a day or so. It is probably just a food particle like JetService mentioned.

It very could well be the kernel of a piece of popcorn, but if I were you I go and get it checked out right away. I've just gone through some problems that I didn't even know existed until my regular checkup. Gone unchecked and the problems could have been much worse. Best of luck to you! Skyhawk

It started around 3 days ago and no, I hate popcorn and haven't eaten it for years. BTW I hate the local dentists because all of them I encountered before are vain and arrogant. They think they know your life better than you do. That's ridiculous.

You may go to your family doc if you can't get to a dentist soon enough. He could advise what to do next, perhaps prescribe antibiotics.

BTW, isn't there a rule saying that you should only have one username?  Smile

I have a inflimation type think behind my last back tooth on the right. I think another tooth is growing! Wisdom tooth probably, although only one seems to be growing. It's fairly annoying, I have an appointment with my orthodontist tommorow anyway so I'll ask him about it then. I'll keep you posted in any case  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Could be an absess and if so will require a visit to a dental hospital for a minor operation involving anesthetic, vis a vis you will be unconsious.

You know if it an absess if your breathe smells like a festering arm-pit boil. When it starts to hurt, you better hope your denist takes emergencies. But tooth abcesses are usually under the tooth and not on the surface of your gum.

The absess is under the tooth but it will produce a swelling which is visible on the gum caused by the absess under the tooth. There is not neccassarily any smell or pain but it will require a minor operation.

Yes I have...and it can be very unpleasant.

Just take a strong analgesic if you want, and it will get better.Or else if you think that there is something very serious ( for instance an infection) , then go to a dentist and consult him/ her.
