Hello all. It's truly pathetic that Johan's too-tight forum rules force me to keep this out of the main aviation forum, but I consider it his loss, not mine.

Anyway, I have given up. After four years of designing this bloody jetliner, I have managed to exhaust myself to the point where I really don't want to invest the intellectual and artistic energies necessary to make a really good house/demonstrator color scheme similar to Boeing's Triple-Line Patriotic or Airbus' Half-Rainbow/Bluetail. The point is, I find that when things like this are opened up to other people, a lot of really amazing ideas come in, and with this motley crew it should be fascinating to see. It would probably just be for fun, because no matter how much energy I've put into making this thing fly the fact is that there just isn't going to be anyway to sell it to LMC (though I have also considered taking it to Boeing and offering it as a replacement for the failed 747-XStretch).
So... before I ask you all for livery ideas, I'll ask you all for ideas on how to conduct such a contest.

(I did offer this exclusively to Air Orange but he wanted to charge me several thousand dollars, so I skipped on out of that!)

Things to keep in mind:
In order to make this thing work, I will be more than willing to send anyone who wishes to participate a dozen 1'-long copies of the airplane profile for "practice runs" and one 2.5'-long copy for a finished suggestion, as well as prepaid envelopes large enough to send back the completed 2.5-footer.
There would be basically no rules except the obvious stuff, no naked people, no cursewords, etc.
And of course, it would have to have some words (L-1011-600 and TryStar, for example).
And lastly, I don't have buckets of money, so the biggest reward I could offer given that this thing is totally non-endorsed by LMC would be like US$200. You would also receive a 4-or-5 foot-long laminated computer-rendering (Adobe Illustrator) of your work. For those of you getting into artsy schools that would make for a pretty good sample of your work... Actually I'd probably frame it rather than just laminate it (or do one of both).

Anyway, I'm not sure how to structure something like this, so any ideas are much appreciated. (If you want to go ahead and sign up also, let me know.)

747-600X,

I find it truly stupid that you can't post this in the main forum, just look at all of Air Orange's posts along the same lines (not attacking him, just making a statement)

What you are offering is extremely kind, probably the kindest contest ever on Airliners.net, the first one that isn't some kind of self-ego boost. I wish I could participate, however, this year with exams etc.. time is an issue.

777236ER, and do you know how it annoys then someone says so... Such posts like "go elsewhere" appears almost in every topic discussing about the site and even in ones which aren't discussing about site. It seems like people only wants to get bigger number in post count for these posts.

You may find it annoying, but i find it annoying when some one call's Johan's rules "too-tight" and "pathetic". If you've got a problem, take it up with him directly. If not, don't whine. Johan works hard on this site. Don't critise openly and then expect to post that he has provided FREE OF CHARGE for you

747-600x, if and when you have a winner, if you will email me a pic ( in a smaller resloution jpg.) in front, side, and perpective, I will do a photorealistic render for you free of charge if you want. I have been doing CG for a little while, about 4 years. As far as your contest good idea, even though I have no clue what it is about.

Toadpipe, do you mean a 3D rendering? I plan on doing an Adobe Illustrator drawing of the plane in the winner's colors (similar to Air Orange's work). Not sure what you mean.

Attention (All Interested)

Sice it would seem generally accepted that this would be acceptable for the main forum, I'm going to dance on over there and post it and see what we can get.

Yes, a 3d rendering with raytraced reflections, refractions, and global illumination etc.. I will attempt to give you as photorealistic a rendering as you wish. Interested?

Toadpipe, I would be definitely interested. I would also be interested, by the way, in paying you to do something similar involving airline's liveries. Any idea how much it would cost?

(In order to make your job easier, I would send you full orthographic views of the plane, front, side, top.)

I use the educational versions of all my software, so payment would be unethical. But as I enjoy doing 3d modeling and rendering as a hobby, I would be glad to do it for free. Just email me and I will see what I can do.
