As many of you know my mom died in April of 2007.
It also turns out, that a women he was dating before he married my mother in 1948, just lost her husband as well this spring.
I say to hell with a mourning period, at his age (85) he can't afford to buy green bananas! They have been to dinner three times, and are going out again tonight.
I don't think anyone should be alone and if this helps them both out, I say it's a good thing!
Most people would think that it's a bit strange for him to go out after only three or four months, but I think it's great!
I don't think he will ever remarry, but just to have a companion would help him, as well as myself and my brothers!

I think what's more amazing as that he has stayed in touch with someone he dated in 1948...
Good for your ol' man, nobody should be alone at that age.

That is so cool! As you obviously understand, it is in no way disrespectful toward your mother or this woman's late husband. But truly, how much time do you think you are going to have?
He will probably live longer and certainly happier with some companionship.
Do you think dating has changed much?

That's a pretty amazing coincidence that your dad found his old flame who happened to be in the same situation he was in.
The vows say "Till death do us part." And having a companion is a huge part of life, no matter what form that companion comes in.

No worries. It happens when it happens and neither of them could control that. I wish them both well for as long as they live.

Old sparky has not lost his touch I gather. Well done to you dad and it is not to be disrespectful to you mom I would imagine but everyone needs someone and the way things go in this day and age you dad might yet have another 15 to 20 in him! Good luck him.

Good for him, and I'm so glad that you are okay with it. My mom has not had a companion since my dad died 11 years ago. She kinda sounded me out about it once, and I told her that if she ever found someone - go for it! Why not have a friend or whatever kind of relationship she wishes? My dad is gone and she deserves to be happy.
Hope your dad enjoys himself! How neat that he met up with his old friend!

Really?
I thought they'd sit at separate tables at a club and text each other.
Guess I'm out of touch.

Don't laugh, I did that once.
