International Book Editions?

School is about to start here pretty soon and it looks like I am gonna have to buy the books for this semester courses. I have been looking at the ones I need and found some international editions to be very much cheaper than the actual ones. They claim to be the same as US edition, but since I had never bought an international edition, I was just wondering if it was the same and what you all's experience was with them. Just wanted to see if it was actually the same content.

I purchased several international editions of text books in Hong Kong. Best I can tell they are exactly the same (though they are usually paperback instead of hard back).
