Hey guys,

it seems, that here in Europe, SKYPE has some trouble. None of my friends either in Germany, Switzerland, Austria or Hungary could connect onto SKYPE from afternoon.

How about in your region? What's going on with SKYPE?

Regards,
Patrick

I got a list e-mail saying it was down today, from someone who's probably forgotten more about computers than I will ever know. It appears you're out of luck.

I started exactly the same subject about one minute after you, I've asked for my thread to be locked.

I am in the French Caribbean and I have the same problem all day, impossible to connect. Everyone I know on the island has same problem.

Oh my... that seems already to be a worldwide problem. Rather bad for our company, since we use it internal worldwide for business. Strange...

Let's see what happens tomorrow. Thx for the feedback so far.

Regards,

Patrick

On The Skype website they say that "some of you" may be having a problem and that they expect to solve the software problem within 12 to 24 hours. They don't say if service will be restored to everyone at the same time, or if it will be region by region.

About 5 minutes ago my connection was restored, but after about 2 minutes it went down again. Still, that is progress,as my Skype has been down since early morning and it's now 6 p.m. here

From the Skype website:

Quote:
Hello everyone,

Apologies for the delay, but we can now update you on the Skype sign-on issue. As we continue to work hard at resolving the problem, we wanted to dispel some of the concerns that you may have. The Skype system has not crashed or been victim of a cyber attack. We love our customers too much to let that happen. This problem occurred because of a deficiency in an algorithm within Skype networking software. This controls the interaction between the user’s own Skype client and the rest of the Skype network.

Rest assured that everyone at Skype is working around the clock — from Tallinn to Luxembourg to San Jose — to resume normal service as quickly as possible.

UPDATED 16 August, 2007 22:00 GMT.

It is a global problem. My account has been signing in for a few minutes throughout the day but then signs back out again.

The "algorithm" problem really seems to be rather heavy for SKYPE. It's 12.00 lunch time here, and still no SKYPE available.

How about you guys?

Patrick

It's 9h00 here in French West Indies (15h00 with you) and still no connection for me.

I had a Skype conference call planned, but I think that I can forget it now  Sad

It's 21:17, here in Germany, Skype still doesn't work. I can launch it, and it starts connecting, but that's all. After a while it shuts down automatically because it couldn't connect..
