Honda lifted the media embargo on the 2008 Accord today.

It looks pretty nice. A little bigger, more power, some extra features. I'm disappointed the V6 sedan is not offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. Though it's not a big surprise as they never sold well. The Nav system does not have XM LiveTraffic but finally gets Bluetooth.

What do you all think?

Accord 2008

Ugly. Honda had once been the one asian manufacturer with semi-decent design. No more, it appears. They've sunken to Mitsubishi levels...  yuck

I like the look. And, it's an Accord, so it should run forever.

I'm hoping to get a new car in about 5 years, and I won't get an accord, but am looking at a Civic. Simply because Honda's are great cars.

Kind of blah if you ask me... reminds me of the current Camry design.

That being said, it's not bad; just not very revolutionary or inspiring.

Its like the Macintosh of the road!  spin  Just kidding.

So I take it Honda's four/five year cycle was up on the Accord? But I agree, it is somewhat bland, but not as bad as the 2003-2005 Accord.

The profile view of the sedan makes me wonder if Chris Bangle has been engaged to head up Honda's styling department, but overall it's not bad.

Hmmmm,
Well, it looks like Honda mashed together styling elements from the Hyundai Sonata,(front view), Saturn L300 (rear view), any recent BMW (Chris Bangle style), and the overall blandness of a Toyota Camry.

Looks better than the Hondo-buick styling of the current model.

I am partial to the 90-93 body style myself.
Once the Accord lost it's low beltline, it was all over from there.
I had a 93 Accord Wagon, and absolutely loved it.

Exactly on the Camry point, but I think it looks alright.

I agree with an above poster,

It looks like a Japanese Version of the new BMW 5-Series.

Seriously! I can't find an image of the '08 Accord yet to link, but here's the Camry.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e2/2007_Toyota_Camry_Altise.jpg/800px-2007_Toyota_Camry_Altise.jpg

And compare that to the Accord shown here: http://automobiles.honda.com/2008%2Daccord/

Honda seems to be carbon-copying the Camry. A few minor body changes, but not enough to even mention really...

It's a bit 'meh' design. It will insult no one and inspire no one. Safe, boring.. boring..

much like cars are today. What happened to the great designs of old??

Revolutionary and inspiring cars like the Citroen 2CV, WV beetle (original), Ford Mustang 1970, Chevy Malibu '77, Jeep Cherokee 1977, Pontiac Firebird (excluding the 90s models and up) etc etc etc

All gone. I'd like to see more tasteful and brilliant designs like before. This 2008 Honda Accord is as inspiring as ah .. I'm so un-inspired I can't think of anything.

Ouch. That is rather grotesque. They appear to be stooping to the level of Hyundai, no place for a manufacturer like Honda.

As far the looks, from the pics I think Camry is better. I hope it looks better when I see it for real.

I agree, while at the same time I think the new designs (particularly for the coupe) also seem to be less attractive knock-off copies of the new Infiniti G's (and considering I think just about everything Infiniti builds looks heinous, that aint a good thing).

Honda started losing their way with the Accord in the mid-90s, and completely lost it with the outgoing model. I had some hope for them based on the new Civics, but that hope is long gone.

And although off topic: Honda if you are reading this - STOP trying to make the Pilot into a Range Rover clone (right down to the twin circular tail light/turn signal design). You are not fooling anyone!

It looks like they took the Acura TL and hit it with an ugly stick multiple times. The coupe isn't that bad though...

Could some of the styling points be blamed on the D.O.T requirement for taller front ends to reduce injuries to pedestrians? Doesn't get much better toward the back as the rear fenders look like their taken from a Hyundai Sonata.

Just wait for the 2009 Acura TL. The 2003 redesigned Accord was butt ugly, yet the 2004 TL - based on the Accord - was quite attractive.

The coupe looks fair, but too much like the 2008 Alltima Coupe/ Infinity G35. The Sedan is WAAAAY to bland. But then again Honda aims more to the conservative market, thus leaving the agressive styling to Acura.

For sure, the coupe does. I have a 2001 Accord Coupe (EX, with the leather seats, but a 4-banger) and it seems like the 2008 coupe looks like a BMW coupe.
