I will be leaving tomorrow morning for Chapel Hill, NC. I'm really not familiar with the area and would love to have some ideas of what to do and see down there. The purpose of my trip is to look for houses, but I would love to see the area and get a feel for what RDU has to offer. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.
Also, when and where is the best time to spot at RDU? Are the local authorities very strict like they are in NYC?

RDU (airport) has 2 observation areas which are both in decent areas with good views. One area overlooks one runway, while the other kind of overlooks the other. I guess they don't have a problem with spotting.
