This was his second career start.....ESPN2 showed the last out, his curveball looked untouchable.
I'm trying to recall if anyone in MLB history pitched a no-hitter in his FIRST major league start...I'm thinking someone did years ago, but I can't place who it was right off hand.

Oh man, that's sweet news! It seems like lately, our guys keep hitting a wall...at least where the Yankees are concerned. Buchholtz is definitely showing alot of promise. Go Red Sox and "Keep the curse reversed!"
Ah, Summer, Fenway Park, Boston Red Sox and Beer.....

There only 21 games behind

I just emailed Romey about it. I loved his take late in the week about how Baltimore just laid down against Texas. Spot-on there - I wonder what Baltimore's next big flop is - they can't lose 121 games, but it'll be fun to watch whatever they do to embarrass themselves before the end of September. Maybe fall victim to a simple triple-play? How about a good brawl from the dugouts where they get their butts handed to them en masse?
But I don't want to take away from this kid - great stuff, solid potential. He's already skyrocketed to the top of several fantasy polls for this season and next.

The fat, senile bastard deserved it. I'd have landed a DDT on him (wrestling move... look it up), so as far as I'm concerned he got off easy.

Don't forget Mother's Day, when they had a 5-0 lead on Boston with 1 out in the 9th... and lost 6-5

A forfeit due to fan behavior... that's about the only thing that hasn't happened yet.

Bobo Hollomon of the St. Louis Browns threw a no-hitter in his first major league start on May 6, 1953 against the Philadelphia Athletics.
More recently, Wilson Alvarez of the ChiSox pitched a no-hitter against, you guessed it, the Orioles on August 11, 1991 in his second major league start.

The red sox have had GREAT sucess withe rookies this year. Dustin Pedroia has been everything and more, Dice-K has gotton it done, Hideki shocked the entire club with his awesome sucess as a set-up man, Jacoby Ellsbury was brought up from the minors and has done spectacular in the majors (beat out and infield hit for his first ever MLB hit), and now this 23 year old pitches a no-hitter, clears the red sox bench and gets Josh Beckett to say, "better than Schilling, better than Schilling" to him. Congrats to all.
(I was at the Schilling game in Oakland, and it was one of the biggest bummer I have ever seen, close to the Patriots loss vs the Colts last year).

I never said I don't fully enjoy that picture every time I see it, did I?
Just making sure the young man knew about that epic move...

Congrats to this rookie. Even though I do not follow baseball, I hope to see Boston make it to the playoffs. Hopefully Boston has its head screwed on right and may they win in pride. Anyone know the current line up of pitchers and starting players?
